Also could use some of those guys as potential add ons to sweeten a package or 2 at the Deadline... as far as Lawson and Ruiz go.. I'd like to keep both.. Ruiz in an Azocar role if not as a starter in LF or CF ..depending on what AJP does in the OF... Lawson looks like a carbon copy of Nick Martinez .. maybe of Nick opts out and wants too much $$ Lawson could be a cheaper version for 2023

 

Hollis/Kowhley and Ona will all be offer deals to come back with spring invites maybe 1 or 2 stay as depth pieces in AAA... not sure any is a rule 5 type pickup as they are a bit older ..

Mazara says hello 2 for 2 2 RBIS both with 2 outs

Ruiz is not on the 40 man roster lots of BP arms incoming of IL my thinking is AJP wants to keep some flexibility in the 40 for the deadline

Also, Baez and Jacob pitched a shutout inning each … as did Castillo again. All three are looking good but only Baez on the 40 man. Some RP insurance for the season and the future and should give Preller something to work with in dealing RP.

Also, Cano is red hot in EP (no longer on the 40 man) … maybe it took time to get his timing back at his age and after a long layoff from regular play. Probably doing well enough for some team to take another look at the ML level at pro-rated league minimum.

I must have missed some roster rule changes in the minors for 2022. Any insight on why SA, FW, LE, ACL all are carrying 15 active pitchers BUT EP has 20 listed as active (after the call-up of Lamet) and an active roster at 32?

Is there an "unlisted" category of inactive for the game but technically active. The IL (which has three pitchers on it) is clearly different.
