Thrilling comeback by the DSL Gold in opening game of best of 3 series against the Giants Black, the team the Padres traded Joniel Hernandez to. It looked like Hernandez was going to be the hero by hitting a go-ahead HR in the top of the 8th inning to make the score 3-2. However, in the bottom of the 8th, Dawry Guerrero (who signed for a fraction of Hernandez 1.4 million in late 2025 at 250K) hit a bases loaded clearing double, driving in the winning runs; Guerrero had previously driven the other two runs with a single so all 5 RBIs came from him. Gold relief pitching held on for the top of the 9th and Padres Gold come away with a 5-3 win!!!

Another comeback by the DSL Padres Gold to sweep the DSL Giants Black and advance to the DSL Cup Finals against the DSL Reds, who also swept their opponents. Best of 3 series begins on Friday. DSL Reds have yet to lose in the playoffs so it will be a tough series for the Gold to win and repeat as back to back DSL Cup Champions.
Update: Because of the Gold sweep, finals moved up to start on Thursday vice Friday. Go Padres Gold!!!

Gold blasted by the Reds 9-5 so its a tough road to hoe to get a repeat of last year. Need back to back wins and pitching has always been the weakest part of the Padres Gold team.

Padres Gold battled back to tie the series at 1 apiece, although they were outscored 4-1 after the first inning. Tomorrow's the day! Go Padres Gold!!!
UPDATE: Padres Gold win 4-2 to repeat as DSL Cup Winners, beating out 52 other teams and with no top prospects noted by MLB on the team after Joniel Hernandez was traded. By the way, the DSL Reds had 2 top 20 prospects of the parent Reds on their team. Hooray!
