Quote from MrPadre19 on April 1, 2019, 3:41 amWhat’s with this schedule?
We play at home Wednesday......travel Wednesday night to St Louis and play Thursday.....”then” get
an off day on Friday?
Why isn’t Thursday the typical ‘travel day” then a three game series over the weekend?
Seems a little tough on our boys.

His wife is the daughter of former Padres GM and manager Jack McKeon. It was McKeon who traded his own son-in-law from the Padres to the Twins on June 23, 1989. That must have been an awkward conversation. Book also coached for the Padres, as the bullpen coach and subsequently the pitching coach. Thoughts and prayers to Booker's loved ones.‘

Quote from WindsorUK on April 1, 2019, 7:18 amMan, that sucks!
Trader Jacks youngest son Kasey is a friend of mine from High School ( Patrick Henry).
Must have been around 10th grade( 1983) that Kasey use to drag us down to the baseball field at Henry to take live BP off of Book, who by then was already a major league pitcher.
SCARED THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME!!!!
After we all flailed away at his pitches, all the time glowering at us under the bill of his cap, he ALWAYS had a laugh with us( or was it AT us?)
My condolences to Kasey and his family.

Building in the day off so if their home opener gets rained out, they can still do the whole hoopla the next day.

Pretty rough on the visiting team just in case it rains.
Seems even stranger that the schedule makers thought of this back when they were making the schedule?
Or is this common practice for Home Openers and I've just not been paying attention?

Has not been a ML starter for a few years ... and the news bit suggested he is going to the bullpen.
Some implications (assuming they just don't DFA him to try to get him through waivers and assign him to AAA):
someone comes off both the 25 and 40 man (that could be Nix to the 60 day DL) but the 25 man is an issue of who between Maton and Stock I guess .. they have options. Not sure Wisler is an improvement.
is one of the RP injured? (Stock was really wild the other day).
is this a precursor to a trade for a SP that includes one (or more) of the Padres RP? Doubt it.
small move but curious.

Quote from 84padres on April 1, 2019, 6:22 pmPaddock was very good. 1 concern is with 2 basic pitches you could see the 3rd time around he wasn't fooling them as much. More fouling off of pitches and taking of borderline pitches. Many more pitches in Last inning. He was averaging about 13 per and threw about double that his last inning including a 10 pitch to Sandoval that ended in a double. I know he threw a couple of curves but basic fastball and change. He will need a 3rd pitch he can count on if he will become our number 1 starter
