Quote from fenn68 on April 15, 2019, 7:10 amPadres had Boog Powell in ST and he is on the EP roster (injury list). Unless his injury is really long term ... he is that AAAA CF that could be used in that n-3 disaster. Only 26, LHH, played primarily CF in the minors and in his limited ML time ... .262 BA in the majors. A model candidate for a short term add / DFA.
In July, if the Padres are a legitimate playoff contender when the n-3 disaster occurs, Preller will be scouring the non-contenders for a trade for a legitimate ML CF from a non-contender ... maybe not "All Star" quality but at least legit ML talent.
The odds of any of this coming to be is really small .... more concerned about the depth in RP.

Quote from dusty on April 15, 2019, 11:37 amIf the plan is to just right the ship to see what we have this season rather than making a move to go for it when the club isn’t quite “all the way there” then you have to just let this one play out and hope there isn’t a time where we need to make that move for a CF. I think this next home stand and the ensuing road trip really will tell us a lot about this club. Need to take 5 out of the next 6 against the Rockies and Reds

I keep hearing comments that his offensive approach will not play at upper levels and that he is resistant to change. Almost all of his production this season is in the form of HR with not much else there when he doesn't pop one. Hope I and the scouts are wrong.

Quote from MrPadre19 on April 16, 2019, 6:44 amSo I'm thinking the Padres all time HR hitter is currently on the squad.
But will it be Myers,Machado,Reyes,Renfroe or Tatis?
If Myers isn't traded he should break Colberts record sometime in 2021 or 22'.
But will he hold it long?

Good question filled with a lot of IFs. So, assuming no opt outs, no extensions, no options exercised, no trades, and the continued job sharing among Myers, Reyes, Renfroe, I will guess that in the end it will be:
350 ... Machado (26) but the risk is he opts out in 5 years then "only" about 200.
240 ... Tatis (20) but then may need to add about 40 / yr for each year extended
206 ... Renfroe (27) with 56 in the pocket prior to this year an 5 more control years
197 ,,, Myers (28) with 77 in the pocket prior to this year and only 4 more years until FA
196 ... Reyes (23) with 16 in the pocket prior to this year and 6 more control years
163 ... Colbert is the Padres' record
So would guess Myers has the best chance to be first to break the record then a neck and neck battle between Machado and Tatis in 5 years. Given his age, if they extend Tatis out to 10 control years should see major productivity in those later years and should eclipse whatever Machado delivers.

Quote from MrPadre19 on April 16, 2019, 1:01 pmI'm really hoping we are winning consistently in the next few years and Machado has no reason to want to leave.
Would love to have a superstar who plays here for 10 years.
Of course...what he could get on the open market at the time will be a deciding factor....but if we're winning, and $30 mil per is
still the going rate.....why would he leave?
He will be 31 at the time....no longer 26.
But...luckily we don't have to concern ourselves with this for a few years.

Do/did you live in Mexico?
Yes MrPadre, that's me, I was living in Tijuana at the time, I'm in my hometown Ensenada right now, anytime any of you guys want to come down I'll be happy to meet you, maybe I'll invite you some homemade fish tacos, or something like that, now about my Pads, despiste the promising start I still see us finishing with 78 to 82 wins, don't think our bullpen can handle the workload, Lauer and Luchessi are a number 4 at best but have the 1 and 2 spots in the rotation, and the other 3 guys won't pitch past 5 innings in 70% to 80% of their starts.
