Quote from fenn68 on April 14, 2019, 12:00 pmPadres recall Maton and Perdomo .... option Stock and Reyes.
Especially Stock but also Reyes seem to have a lot of command issues, so beyond the fresh arms in the pen maybe Stock and Reyes can work on their command in AAA. Stock was at times totally out of sync and nowhere close the the plate.

Of which we’ve not had many.

Perdomo has had 4 decent outings at AAA ... maybe he can/will help ... hope so ...

Quote from WindsorUK on April 14, 2019, 1:33 pmPerdomo always seemed solid his first and second time through a lineup, which generally gets you to the 5th inning.
I'd be happy with that.

They have zero CF depth. Someone to stash in AAA in case Margot turns an ankle. Any others you guys can think of to target as short term CF capable stop gap?
I am guessing they will take the gamble and wait for Jankowski to return for the IL .... maybe in late June. Did see him in the SD dugout during this series in AZ. Until the they are probably willing to fall back on Myers.
After Gentry the remaining FA CF (if they still can play CF) are Austin Jackson (32), Denard Span (35), and Chris Young (35). Not sure any of them at this point would be better than Myers (considering offense / defense) and in case of Margot and Myers both going down before Jankowski is ready ... guess we would see Pirela (who is doing some CF in AAA). Padres also may not want to take away playing time in CF from Gettys or Pirela on the extreme off chance all the bad outcomes come in.
Doesn't look as though the FA are going anywhere ... so likely will be still around to sign if needed later ... if they are willing to sign for reasonable terms (they are all old enough to weigh retirement vs. spending any significant time in the minors).
Matt Szcur? Agree the FA pickings are slim. Perhaps a depth for depth piece move? I mean EP needs another CF and don't give me this Pirela business.

If Perdomo ever learns to trust his stuff he'll be fine middle RP.

Sczur is in the AZ organization (Reno) and on the DL.
Margot to Myers to Jankowski (when he returns ... mid-Jun) .... Pirela is not a CF plan but a n-3 disaster. Actually would not be surprised if they got to that stage of actually needing a CF for an extended run the Padres did not call up Olivares from AA or run Renfroe out to CF maybe even elevated Reed.
At the n-3 point ... not going to have or find any quality via FA of ML quality for a contender. Trade for someone ... contingent on where the stand. Of course the long the n-3 does not happen .... the more experience Reed and Olivares gain in AA making that option a bit more appealing.

If they were going to call up AA guys they would be better elevating Gettys. Reed is proving why he will unfortunately flame out. Olivares vs Gettys? BAD situation to be in. There has to be a AAAA good defense CF available.

Quote from Ben Davey on April 14, 2019, 9:47 pmIf they were desperate for a CF they would callup Gettys. I think by now they have all but given up on Gettys as a prospect. He is still a + defensive CF, but cant make consistent contact to save his life. He has struck out 2 or more times in 6 of his nine starts this year. However, if Margot were to go down in the next month (before Freddy or Franchy are back) Gettys could fill in, and the Padres wouldnt feel too bad about DFA him. They still see Reed and to a lesser extant Olivares as prospects
