How aggressive the Padres go probably correlates directly to the NL DH.

I think we all agree, that if the NL gets the DH, Pham becomes the DH. At that time, then the 4th OF becomes the starting LFer. So I agree, that we almost need someone that can be a starting LFer, which maybe Grossman.

I don't think Pham agrees. Although that makes sense ... Pham will not be the full time DH. DH will be a rotational position making an initial home for Kim and Cronenworth in the line-up.

IF the Padres have money to deploy ... RHRP is the #1 target in my mind ... and a RHH OF who can play CF is second. A "legitimate" starting LF would just consume too much money.

I would revisit Luis Castillo. Lamet might not be able to go, would you guys move Paddack/Weathers and/or Morejon for Castillo?

CINN would NOT ...

The free agents who may fill our 4th outfielder position are all stuck waiting for the bigger dominoes to fall I believe.

Guys like Pillar,Mazara and DeShields may be good candidates depending on the offers they get.

Well, there goes my Grossman idea, he is signing with DET. 2 years for $10M.

BTW, only other SP'sin top 20 of BOTH K & B% besides Darvish was:  Kenta Maeda

Just missing in 21-30 range of BB%:  Gerritt Cole, Trevor Bauer, Brandon Woodruff (Brewers), and... Zach Eflin... helping the Kemp trade just be the worst move ever

Surprised that Grossman got 10M over 2 years and even more that it is Detroit that signed him.  If FA's are going for that much, then I'm trading for a controllable OF that is making close to league minimum right now but has some upside.

Agree exactly.  If anything, "(LH) DH/PH vs RHP" would be #3.  In other words, cheaper to find a DH (Moreland =/< 2.5 MM for example) than a "legitimate LF".  Still need a corner OF next year, but that probably has to be next year's problem.

According to MLBTR, the Padres and Yankees have swapped Greg Allen for LHRP James Reeves. Drafted out of Citadel in 2015, seems like he is not on the NYY 40 man, so probably has all his options left at this time.

Has never been on a major league roster, so has all options left.  As it stands, he is a Rule 5 eligible for next December.  Likely going on the El Paso roster and gives Padres another lefty option should they need one.

Probably insurance if/when Castillo is hurt again. Plus, he can ride the shuttle all year as SD needs arms for the bullpen.
