Quote from fenn68 on June 25, 2019, 6:28 amSomeone to keep an eye out for ... Allen Cordoba who is beginning to fully recover from his injuries in 2018 and now showing his upside as a hitter after a slow start to 2019. His development was delayed as a Rule 5 with the Padres in 2017 and most of 2018 with a serious injury.
I liked what I saw when he was in San Diego in 2017 with some real all around potential (although using him at SS never made sense). In LE he is now a LF/3B and seems to be recapturing his offense which was his calling card when the Padres picked him as a Rule 5. Still just 23 for all of the 2019 season.
Maybe at this stage he projects potentially as a "super sub" with a good bat off the bench ... maybe more ... maybe less.

Hope they get him some reps in CF (and that he has improved his shaky reads out there).

Quote from fenn68 on June 25, 2019, 10:36 amMaybe work in CF may become a Fall League / winter ball issue with J.Rosario owning CF in LE based on elite defense and upside.
Frankly never under stood StL and then SD wanting him at SS since ... as I recall ... as an amateur he was an OF. That is not an easy OF to SS transition and he was bad defensively at SS. Looks like that mis-direction is over. However, it has been a long long time since he got regular reps in OF so not sure the development time has been worked. However, looking at the LE roster plus wanting to get him ABs ... maybe 3B gets that done while J.Rosario, Ornelas, and Suwinski ... all prospects the Padres like .... get their OF reps and Cordoba becomes effectively the alternate OF.

Only thing you got right was the round he was picked.

Quote from fenn68 on June 26, 2019, 2:37 pmExcellent performances ... again ... by Gore in LE and Cantillo in FW. Even with innings concerns have to think both should get a taste of the next level soon.

Beg your pardon.
I didn’t see the first inning was in the Azl and he wasn’t scored on when I posted it.
Did I get his name right ?

... like their next starts! Think Gore would have already gone up if LE not so injury depleted; just not being challenged at all at High-A. Needs to take the next step. Helps that Osvaldo Hernandez is rehabbing... when he can go even 4 innings, should/could see him back. Think we see these moves on/before July 1st.
Fort Wayne opening might be hardest to fill; SP draftees will pitch as RP to limit innings. Maybe last year's 4th rounder Dylan Coleman?

Quote from fenn68 on June 28, 2019, 6:53 amAny CURRENT scouting report / projection for Steve Wilson ... RP in EP?
8th round pick last year has soared up the organization to AAA with dominate performances in LE/EP. He may be that case were "older" (he is 24) is a bit irrelevant considering his short professional time and short time as a RP. In college he redshirted his freshman year and got a medical redshirt for his junior year (2017) so returned for his senior season in 2018 ... as the Friday night starter. When drafted comments were that he might move quickly as a RP (plus slider I think). He surely has ... but does he have the stuff to carry that success to the ML level?
Did note that Wilson was not being used as the closer even with those dominant stats ... maybe needed to see his work first ... he was an unknown to a degree even to the Padres or maybe his results are more impressive than his stuff / projection (remember Quackenbush).
Padres need RP help ... he could ... maybe.
