With all the "coddling" in regards to pitch counts these days.

Quote from Mitchell Muhleman on April 7, 2019, 8:19 amAccording to Inland Empires’ announcer, Thompson hit 98 on multiple pitches last night.
Also, if Cantillo is touching mid-90’s, that is a big deal given his pitch mix and precocious young age.
Makes up for the sting of Quantrill’s and Allen’s struggles.

I definitely want to see what we get for Cantillo velocities the next few outings. I didn't see anything above 93 in Arizona. Perhaps more important than where he's topping out is that he was eliminating more of the 87s and 88s. If he is consistently 90-92, the rest of it will play just fine for now.

Quote from David Jay on April 8, 2019, 12:48 pmQuote from Brian Connelly on April 4, 2019, 10:01 amDavid, with the Minors seasons starting today, has the team announced what players are headed to EST vs any cuts?
Also, other than these known names: Baez, Espinoza, O. Hernandez, H. Rodriguez, J. Guerrero, A. Cordoba, & J. Barley... any other Minors players injured/rehabbing heading into start of season?
Sorry I missed this before...
The team has not released any players since the group on 3/25.
Barley was already back on the field before I left Peoria. Apparently you can add recovery ability to his list of freakish skills.
Cole Bellinger, Omar Fernandez, Wen-Hua Sung and Noel Vela are a few of the key names who were not yet released from the rehab group into XST when last I checked in. All were participating in some level of activity at that point. I'll work on updates in this next week.

Could see Garcia losing value as SS backup if Urias is called up opening the door for Quiroz.

Mosser will be an interesting watch. As I recall from an article last year (memory is always a risk) .... Mosser's FB was billed at about 92-93 and three secondary pitches (just no clue how good any of them are).
What might make him a diamond in the rough (always optimistic) is this cold climate background growing up in Allentown, PA then continuing in college in the cold climate, small school Shippensburg in PA. Hard to fully develop in cold climates and really does not get the scout eyes pitching for a small college.
At 23 ... yes "old for this league" but given his background a reasonable starting point. Could see him moved up early if at all successful (think Lucchesi progression).
