Anyone have any info on Taylor Womack?

I see him on Twitter taking BP but I also remember seeing we released him a few weeks ago?

He came back from injury and then was unceremoniously shown the door.

Taylor Lomack.

No idea why he was released even before the ACL got going. Good numbers in 2019.

Outside chance they released him (actually think last SEP) due to the injury … let him rehab … and just maybe are resigning him. Seems odd but may be some technical factors and/or the nature of the injury / recovery. Just speculating.

If Grish continues to hit .150.... I say bring Ruiz up to the Show... with his approach I bet he does a lot better than .150...(hell if Azocar could improve his slg% to .350 I would start him over Grish (soon)... Ruiz has a more complete Ogfensive game vs Azocar and Grish.. I know we are in the 1st Q of a contending season but Ruiz would be an improvement over Grish... Grish could assume Azocar role and be the designated bunt man..cause he is elite in that category (pun intended)... Azocar can take Ruiz spot at AA.. and be on the quick call up list as soon as we need him...

As for 2023.. many thunk #2 prospect Hassell will be ready to challenge for CF as early as ST..(A+ would like to see him at AA soon) with James Wood not too far behind .. so maybe 1 yr deals with options to the likes of Gallo /Myers and/or Comforto might not be a bad strategy... Besides Judge (that ain't happening) the only other OF I'm FA I would feel comfortable with on more than a 3yr deal is Benintendi..because his lack of power his $$$ wouldn't be crazy either something like 3/27.. or 5/40.. should get it done... and he brings a solid BA/OBP with defense to the table... a guy like Gallo would be the ideal (other) corner duo for 23 offsetting the lack of power with his ++power bat.... Giving Ruiz/Hassell/Grish and Azocar a chance to battle for CF and 4th OFer..and one can argue yet ANOTHER bat would be needed for DH upgrade depending on how goes it with Voit over his next 150 or so ABs

Weird.

I checked him out just yesterday on MiLB.com and it showed he was released a couple months ago.

Now he seems to have been completely removed from the database?

🤷🏻‍♂️

I saw him today on the MiLB data base (search function) as released. So?

Anyone seen an update on James Wood?

Saw something that said he would be back soon.... unlike Merrill who broke his hand and is likely to miss 6 more weeks if not longer

CBS Sports was reporting that both Merrill and Wood have wrist injuries with Wood's being a flare-up of his previous right wrist injury.  I hope they come back when fully healed because they are two of the next level prospects behind Hassell III and Campusano and could theoretically be better than both at their respective positions.

Not sure how these injuries occurred but I did see a lot of head-first sliding when the Storm was running the bases like crazy.  Easy to jam a wrist in that kind of situation.  Other possibility is being hit by a pitch.  Padres are really closed-mouthed when revealing the extent of injuries so it's anybody's guess when they could come back.  No reason to rush them - both are already better than the league they are playing in.

By the way,  who is Taylor Womack?  I follow the Padres minor league players very closely and there hasn't been a person by that name in the system for at least 3 years, maybe more.  Baseball Reference does not list such a person and they are quite complete in listing all major and minor league players.  El Paso has a guy named Taylor Kohlwey and he is currently on the IL.  Is a very good contact hitter but lack of power probably keeps him out of the majors unless it is with a second division team.  He deserves a chance but already 27 going on 28.

Taylor Lomack

Sorry…of course I knew it was Lomack but it corrected to Womack and I didn’t fix  it…then when I went back to MiLB.com I think I had Womack on the brain.

Doh!

I still wonder what’s happened.

He had a great 19’ and is still young.

If I have my dates correct .... next Monday, June 6 ... the Arizona Complex and the DSL start their seasons.

We should see who the Padres have kept around Arizona and who came over from the DSL.
