Quote from David Jay on May 25, 2018, 10:23 amJust for those tracking along at home...
Next Wednesday, May 31, would be a day that Margevicius, Paddack and Allen would all line up to throw on their current schedule (and the Chihuahuas will likely have some sort of juggle to do to backstop the big league club anyway).
It's still a little earlier than you'd normally expect to see a fleet of moves, but those are the guys at each level who would make the most sense to bump up. With Nix probably less than a month away if he doesn't have a setback (he threw three innings in XST yesterday), Kennedy likely not a long-term DL stint, Erik Johnson about ready to stretch out beyond his three inning stints, there's a lot of movement to come before the draftees really start to hit the system.

Quote from Ryan Payne on May 25, 2018, 11:12 amGood info. Reading the Fangraphs "Fringe Five" today (Highly recommend) and I'll just leave this nugget here in regards to Paddack....
"An actual real talent evaulator recently suggested to me that Paddack is possibly among the top two or three right-handed pitchers in the minors, on par with Michael Kopech, who, incidentally appeared 20th overall on Eric Longenhagen and Kiley McDaniel's preseason top 100 list."

1. You eject Luis Urias for arguing balls and strikes.
The end.

Quote from David Jay on May 26, 2018, 8:20 amFor the record, throwing equipment (which includes spiking his helmet as Urias did) is an automatic ejection by rule in minor league baseball. And he wasn't arguing strike zone, he was arguing that the home plate should have asked for help from his first base umpire on the check swing.

Quote from MrPadre19 on May 28, 2018, 7:28 amSo what’s everyone’s thoughts on Buddy Reeds’ prospect status after his first 200 AB’s of 2018?
Sickles didn’t even grade him or have him in his top 30 and I don’t find him on other lists either.
But if his athleticism/defense warranted a 1st/2nd round pick and his only question mark was his bat......if he keeps this up wouldn’t it put him squarely into top prospect territory?
Considering how Tatis shot up the rankings last year......isn’t this a similar situation?

Quote from David Jay on May 28, 2018, 8:45 amThere's a pretty wide chasm between Reed, who is 23 and entered this year with a five year track record of scouts and baseball people saying 'man, I sure hope he figures it out someday,' and Tatis.
That said, he's made mechanical changes that have led to significant changes in both performance and production. And while the underlying numbers look pretty similar to the "breakout" Gettys had in his first stint with Elsinore, I think there's a bit more underlying baseball ability and hand-eye coordination there for Reed (who, it should be noted, is the older of the two).
I think the results so far are promising, but think it will be wise to keep moving him slowly.

Quote from David Jay on May 28, 2018, 8:56 amJust a minor note: The TinCaps hit the 50-game mark today, which means that Alex Cunningham's suspension should end tomorrow. No insights yet on what the club is going to do with him... You'll recall (maybe) that he was the club's ninth-round pick last year out of Coastal Carolina. He was suspended after he tested positive for amphetamines this winter.

I understand the age difference in regards to their prospect status......I was more referring into the "jump" in the Padre system Reed may take.
After trading for Tatis he was regarded highly......but only around 15th or so in our system. But after last seasons breakout he obviously jumped to #1.Of course his age has alot to do with that.
But my point was more in regards to the possible jump that Reed may make.
He was also highly regarded(as he was drafted high) but considered high teens or even lower in some cases in our system.
This was obviously because of the doubts about his hitting ability.
"IF" this seasons plays out as it has started how high do you think he can move?
How much will his age limit this movement in your opinion?
I realize he's not young.....but if he puts up a .320-.360-550 season with 20+ HR and 40+ SB's wouldn't he jump into the top 5?
Especially considering the only knock on him was his bat.
