Around the League...non Padres

Having nine left-handed batters in the starting lineup was a first in modern Major League history, and it turned out to be just the right lineup, as the Rays recorded 12 hits in the 11-1 win over the Red Sox on Friday at Tropicana Field.

With that result, it won't be the last all LH lineup!  Even if it was vs Boston...

It a makes sense now!

Kid struck out 11 out of 12 AB's, then gets pulled in the middle of the game.

Hope he fully recovers.

Saw this on one of the ballgame broadcasts ... players with more HR than singles ... our buddy Hunter Renfroe is on that list:

7 HR ... 4 Singles!

Thought he would be more productive in TB but 160/234/420 with only 16 hits (100 AB) ... 4 singles / 5 doubles / 7 homeruns.

Alec Mills has never pitched a  Shutout in his professional career.....not even in the Minors.

Yet he now has a No -Hitter.

We have five starters as good or better than him....yet still we go without.
When will we get this monkey off our backs?

2020 sounds like the perfect time to me.

Had to update:

  • Olivares w/ Royals:      .342/.350/.579  13/38  2B,3B, 2 HR, 7 RBI, (only) 1 BB, 10 K
  • France w/ Mariners:    .308/.400/.564  12/39  2-2B,3B, HR, 6 RBI, 6 BB
  • Torrens w/ Mariners:  .286/.355/.464   8/28   2-2B, HR, 3 RBI, 3 BB

Then:

  • Naylor w/ Indians:      .147/.194/.147      5/34   NO XBH!  2 RBI, 2 BB
  • Hedges w/ Indians:     .143/.143/.143      1/7     No XBH, 4 K    3 games played

Yikes.  Great to see former Pads playing well elsewhere (AL:), but WHY can't Naylor tap into his power in games.  The disparity between his "raw" & "in-game" is so insane there HAS to be a technical somewhat fixable reason, right?

The Royals have to be ecstatic...the Mariners are probably happy...the Indians?

They gotta hope the minor league guys they got pay off next year and beyond.

How about Indians FANS?!   One thing if your team is bad/rebuilding, like Royals or Mariners now longshot for #8 playoff spot.  Another if you're basically IN the playoffs, and traded a #1-#2 SP in a compressed playoff schedule for ... these MLB players?

Quantrill has been OK, not great.  Like with us: should have higher ERA, somehow prevents the amount of  hits from becoming the # of runs it should.

Obviously they weren't counting on offense from Hedges...but I'm sure they thought Naylor was going to be an upgrade for their outfield.

Arias and Cantillo will be the ultimate deciding factor for them.

If Arias comes in and plays well for years after Lindor leaves they will have done well.

Alot of "if's" though.

As a former Cleveland fan (as a kid) ... the trajectory of the franchise is going south really quickly ... all to totally shed payroll. This winter they will move Lindor and not pick-up some key options. May not care all that much about the players they got in return.

Would not be surprised if the owners are setting up for a sale ... ballpark lease is up very soon ... TV contract (with a relative’s corporation) is up soon ... principle owner is old (inherited as I recall and not as baseball oriented as his father). Clean the decks of unsightly obligations makes a sale easier.

Expect some noise around a potential new owner and / or relocation to ?

Yeh, has to be heading to some depressing time for Cleveland fans.
