If he played regularly in that ballpark...with the current ball...he'd hit THIRTY homers!
lol

Quote from WindsorUK on August 12, 2019, 4:04 pmI thought Galvis was having a good year?
I've not seen him play but he's got, what, 17-18 home runs? And he must be playing solid defense?

Quote from fenn68 on August 12, 2019, 4:31 pmMaybe my imagination but seems as though this August more teams are waiving veterans to clean up the roster ... maybe more noticeable without the ability for August waiver / trades under the new rules. Probably don’t even care if they get claimed.
Holland is a 34 year old FA next winter and Galvis is on a $5.5MM club option (v $1MM buyout) and has been supplanted at SS in Toronto by rookie Bichette ... so I guess Toronto does save a few buck on the buyout.
I guess if the club clearly sees no future for the player and wants to see prospects ... might just DFA them now, clear a 40 man roster slot, and add the prospect to get some ML exposure. Team moving quicker to looking ahead to 2020 than just running out clock in 2019.
The only Padres in the same category are Stammen (FA) and Kinsler (under contract for 2020) but the Padres do have an open 40 man spot for now and really no next up RP or middle INF worth calling up and adding to the 40 man.
I would think there is a bit of value in showing some class in the exit strategy for both ... value in the eyes of the other players on the roster and in the eyes of potential FA signings.

He was having an average year in the Lunar Baseball Project that has been MLB and AAA. TOR has Bichette and no interest in picking up his option. Why keep him around when you can give him a chance to hook up a playoff or team that will consider his $5.5 option?

Glad to hear it. I have watching his box scores with equal dismay as those of Trammel.

This won’t be official for some time, but right now the Shadow Twins plan is to sign Juan Soto ($1,650,000 to beat the Nationals by 10 percent), Gregory Guerrero ($1,650,000 to beat the Mets by 10%), and Fernando Tatis Jr ($770,000 to beat the White Sox by 10%) instead of Wander Javier ($4,000,000 to the Twins in real life).
