Quote from BoosterSD on May 10, 2019, 6:13 pmSo, listening to MLB radio today and they were getting on the fan in Detroit that would not give up the milestone HR ball that Pujols hit the other day. They had a memorabilia expert on that said; if authenticated, the ball would be worth $100K. And even if not authenticated would still probably be worth $30-50K on my estimation. They were saying that the fan should have given it up for a signed bat and jersey from Pujols. I am telling you right now; that if I caught that ball, it was leaving with me or I would have a check for $100K in my pocket. I dont care if that check came from the Tigers, the Angels, MLB, the HOF, or Pujols himself. $100K could do a lot for making my life a lot more comfortable.
Am I wrong for thinking that way? I mean baseball is a $10 billion industry, the owner of the Angels is a billionare, and Pujols will make over $4ooM in his career. $100K is nothing to any of them, but big to my life.

Quote from 84padres on May 10, 2019, 7:10 pmYou are 100 % correct. If they think that giving a autographed ball and bat is fair trade they are crazy. A fan buys a ticket catches ball and they want you to give it to them for peanuts ? If they want the ball then play in an empty stadium and they can have all the balls hit. Fans help pay their salaries , get over it you pompous asses that think he should have given it back.

Quote from 84padres on May 11, 2019, 5:29 amRemember this was in Detroit, not an Angels fan. Today they are reporting that he will give Pujols the ball , I wouldn't I would stand right up there and put the ball up for auction and laugh at anyone who says that I am doing the wrong thing.

You are probably the same guy that would watch someone lose a bank deposit that had 100K in it and go swoop it up and keep it
Pathetic.....you didn't hit it much less play the game

Come on are you for real ? Is that the same situation in your mind ? Catching a ball legally and keeping 100K that you knew who it beongs to ? If I bought a ticket and caught the ball it is rightfully mine Pujols didn't pay for the right to catch it, he didn't lose a bank deposit slip with cash. He never owned the ball he didn't lose anything it belongs to who ever catches it, big difference. It's not immoral to keep what belongs to you . If they want to own every ball that is hit then change the rules or empty the stadiums. Don't call my morality into question

Quote from 84padres on May 12, 2019, 7:13 amThis is the quote from Pujols “I told the guys, ‘Just leave it. Just let him have it.’ I think he can have a great piece of history,” Pujols told reporters afterward. “We play this game for the fans, too, and if they want to keep it, I think they have the right. I just hope he can enjoy.”
Asked if he’d ever considering paying for the ball — like actual cash, not just swag — Pujols dismissed that.
“I wouldn’t pay one penny for that,” Pujols said. “He can have it. I don’t play this game so I can pay fans. He can have that piece of history. It’s for the fans that we play for, too.
“He has the right to keep it. The ball went in the stands.” Pujols gets it. Without fans there would be no $240 million contracts or professional leagues of any kind
