I thought at the time the Braves decision to sign Josh Donaldson to a 1 year contract was an odd one.
They had Camargo at the minimum and their best position player prospect is a 3B in Austin Riley.
It seems even more odd now.
Camargo is a bench player and Riley has “Fourteen” homeruns and 35 rbi hitting .300 .376 .671 in AAA.
Did they really think Riley needed another season at AAA?
Just imagine the pitching they could have added for that $20 mil they gave Donaldson.
They’re looking good there for next season but if they fall just short this year because of their pitching this will be even a bigger head scratcher.
Their BP has already cost them “at least” 6 games.

While I'm of course stoked we got Machado if you haven't seen yet Austin Riley was called up by the Braves.
He hit a BOMB in his 2nd AB and last night hit a 2b off the wall missing another HR by 2 inches.
Sure wish we were able to get him.....but my guess is the Braves weren't gonna budge on him.
But they have him in the OF because of Donadlson....who's doing "OK" but not $20 mil OK.
Braves should have started Riley at 3b and used that money on Kimbrel and/or some other pitching.

When Ryan Pressly signed that huge 2 year deal in ST I thought it was crazy of the Astros.

This time on the all time hits list by Miguel Cabrera. At 2721, Miggy has moved into 63rd place.
Reckon he'll need to play at least into the 2021 season to reach the hallowed grounds of 3000. Still, another stellar career starting to reach all time great milestones.

The most amazing part of the Twins 18-4 rout of the Mariners?
It was 15-0 to start the 5th inning and the Twins took Berrios out after 4.2 innings.......not getting him the W.
He gave up 4 runs......so it was 15-4.
They couldn’t let him get 1 more out?

Gleyber Torres now has 12 homeruns on the season.
TEN of those he’s hit off of the Orioles!
