Does anyone believe the Tigers will keep winning?
I live near Detroit and no one believes they will keep winning. They are smoke and mirrors at this point with a terrible farm system, no threat to Cleveland

Quote from fenn68 on April 9, 2019, 2:44 pmWith everything Cleveland is going through .... they are in 1st place in the AL Central ... that is one bad Division.
Very hard to read their owner but not seeming like he plans to throw in the towel ... no matter what ... this season thinking they can contend again in 2020 ... the SP are back and so are the key bats. The AL Central likely will not be substantially better. They did extend Francona for 2 years (?) which cost some money in face of wanting to lower payroll.
Maybe IF they move Bauer or Kluber it will not be for the future but for some immediate ML quality to offset the loss of the pitcher. I am sort of moving on from either as options for the Padres this year.

Unless Indians would take a "Middle road / 'Cheap' " combo of maybe 1-2 MLB guys & some prospects vs. a MLB roster decimation, don't see it happening. They'll more likely stand pat on those guys & have no choice but to trade whatever they've got on the Farm for some cheap but competent OF help eventually

Quote from fenn68 on April 10, 2019, 9:57 amA side note on the Indians and potential reason for NOT wanting to deal their key players to build for the future ... their owner (for about 18 years) is now 88 ... he just might not see the value of building for the future and prefers trying to win now. Owners make the call.
I guess his son will inherit (via family trust) but he is not young either and no idea his commitment to the team. Would not be surprised to see the team up for sale after the father passes. 18 years in a long ownership run in this day and age ... especially for a franchise that is not making money via cash flow and the profit is all capital gains.

Quote from MrPadre19 on April 12, 2019, 10:04 amObviously this is to be taken with a grain of salt.....but have you seen what Freddy Galvis is doing?
He's currently 17 for 43 with "FOUR" homeruns and a 1.179 OPS!

Quote from MrPadre19 on April 16, 2019, 10:45 amIt's still early but how much do you think the pirates are regretting trading Glasnow and Meadows for Chris Archer?
Meadows reminds me of Christian Yellich a couple years ago.
Highly athletic smooth LH swing...developing power.

Quote from MrPadre19 on April 18, 2019, 7:09 amAnyone been paying attention to what Enyel De Los Santos is doing in AAA for the Phils?
2 starts....12 ip.....6 hits/19K's/2BB's
Ugh!
That loss for one season of Galvis may hurt.....he would be in our rotation right now.

mlb.com is saying that he is Phil's "Closer of the Future"!

Enyel de los Santos, RHP, Phillies' No. 6 (Triple-A Lehigh Valley)
Originally signed by the Mariners and acquired from the Padres in a trade for Freddy Galvis in December 2017, de los Santos has mid-rotation upside with a mid-90s fastball and a quality changeup. His ability to hit 98 mph in shorter stints also makes him an intriguing option for the late innings.
