Juan Soto hitting a wopping .251, with just 15 more hits than Gavin Sheets( who has 100 less AB's).

I can't believe ANYONE gave that guy more money than Ohtani. And it's going to look even worse when the Mets don't make the playoffs.

Well....anyone have a chance to see the New York papers this morning?????

3/4 of a BILLION dollars to one guy....to not even make the WS tournament. Brutal!

Soto led the league in OBP and BB. He was 3rd in OPS and RBI. He was 2nd in R, 4th in HR and tied for 4th in SB. He put up a 6 WAR season in a year he was considered amongst the unluckiest hitters in baseball. He's making an absurd amount of money for a long time. He gave them exactly what they paid for in year 1. If I'm a Mets fan I'm far more upset about the 3 starters they have invested in. Manaea, Senga and Montas all struggled badly enough to either be optioned or sent to the bullpen down the stretch.

SFG have fired Bob Melvin, after what, 2 seasons. Guess Preller made the right call on Shildt.

Mets fans are angry about everything ... even when winning!

Maybe Cohen should have spread that Soto money over upgrades on more players if he wanted to win. Maybe on their scouting department / front office?

Always a risk in getting overly infatuated on one player and lose sight of winning with a full roster and support staff.

Bob Melvin fired.

Bochy will not return as Texas' manager next season (mutual agreement) making this a tough year for ex-Padres managers with the firing of Black (COLO) and Melvin (SF). Bochy is 70 ... maybe becomes and advisor / front office in Texas.

IF the LAD get blown out in the WC series ... could Roberts be next? Murphy is secure in MILW.

Wow....looks like Albert Pujols may be the next Angels Manager.

I think Roberts is safe regardless if the Dogers don't win the WS.  He already has won 2 WS, that buys a lot leeway in my opinion.  That said, I would be very happy if the Dogers never win another WS.  Go Pads!

That would be very interesting.  I think it is always very difficult for ex-great players to be a good manager, because they really didn't have the struggle experiences that the vast majority of players do, so they don't really know the mindset of the average player.  It just seems that the great players had a different work ethic and were very self-motivated etc., so it is harder for them to encourage average players to do that in my opinion.  That is why so many great managers were marginal players.  They had to grind so much to just make the big leagues, they relate much better to the struggles of the average players.

These days they don't even have to spend a few years in the Minors to prove their worth.

I also hear Mark DeRosa is a candidate in Atlanta
