Has anyone been watching what's happening in the AL central?

Cleveland is 6 innings away from moving into a 1st place tie with Detroit! The same Cleveland team that was 15 games back at the All Star break!

Has anyone EVER made up that kind of ground, bypassing so many teams, the second half of the season?

Good to see AJ castoff  Joey Cantillo playing a strong role in the Guardians resurgence.

Cleveland has been red hot plus so has Seattle while Detroit and Houston have not been. So with a week to play it is a toll up on winning the AL Central (Detroit / Cleveland) and the AL West (Seattle / Houston) ... plus still a shot for NYY to catch TOR. Basically no team clinched the playoffs.

One of the above teams will miss the playoffs ... will be a shock if it is Detroit after being one of the winningest teams early in the season.

In the NL less drama but NYM sure look like they will get passed by CINN for the last WC slot. Fans in NY will be irate.

If the Mets don't make the playoffs, that Soto signing will look far worse!

Watch out for the Dbacks, they just might sneak in.

Some interesting NL match ups next with three teams fighting for 1 WC slot.

CINN (76 losses) vs PITT (89 losses) ...advantage CINN

NYM (76 losses) vs. CUBS (68 losses) ... CUBS in 1st WC slot but still trying to ensure not caught by the Padres to keep home field advantage

AZ (77 losses) vs. LAD (68 losses) ... LAD leading the NL West

With six games to go this could bounce back and forth until next Sunday.

___________________________

Also, if the Padres (71 losses) get hot ... they could overtake the CUBS (68 losses) for the 1st WC or the LAD (68 losses) for the NL West ... those teams will also need to hit a major cold spell given the spread BUT "possible".

Is it weird that with just 6 games left, only 2 teams have clinched a division, and only 5 a playoff berth?

MLB, according to MLBTR has decided to implement the ABS Challenge system for next season. Will be able to challenge balls and strikes, up to two times per game if you are wrong both times.

I like the idea of the automated ball/strike system but not the "challenge system".

They have a system that instantly can make consistent (right) calls ... and should not that a be the objective every pitch? That consistency would put the pitcher / hitter on an even playing field of skill vs skill ... make for a truer outcome to better evaluate the pitchers / hitters and to the benefit of all betters out there ... and just maybe the fans.

Plus personally, would eliminate every announcer / analyst who insists on commenting with derision on every close pitch called wrong. Find that the least value and annoying when on TV can see it ... and on radio don't really need to know.

Tigers at Guardians the next three days is  gonna be great baseball. If somehow the guardians can beat Skubal tonight  the Tigers may be in trouble

Juan Soto hitting a wopping .251, with just 15 more hits than Gavin Sheets( who has 100 less AB's).

I can't believe ANYONE gave that guy more money than Ohtani. And it's going to look even worse when the Mets don't make the playoffs.

Well....anyone have a chance to see the New York papers this morning?????

3/4 of a BILLION dollars to one guy....to not even make the WS tournament. Brutal!
