Well, Nashville supports the Titans well, and so the could have the ability to support a MLB team.
And yes, I would say a majority of the SE United States is probably Braves country, so that would be the issue with Virginia, the Carolinas, and the other surrounding states.
So would enough people change to support a local team, that would be the question for MLB in those areas.

We made it work in SD for decades .. with many in attendance at Padres games fans of other teams big time.. dont think Braves Fanhood per say would hurt attendance if anything increases it (as we've seen in SD) and as the local team wins it starts to convert or add to its fan base as well ..I dont see a problem

Quote from fenn68 on January 10, 2023, 9:48 amMLB would open up a can of worms if they blocked expansion to Nashville because of "territorial rights" of ATL. MLB gets away with a lot given the anti-trust exemption given by Congress. Nashville is a major city (and one of the fastest growing) a pretty good distance from ATL - PITT - CINN ... blocking expansion might get some heavies filing suit and pushing Congress to "investigate" and potentially re-legislate.
Never sell politics short in shaping the decision. The real "block" is not to expand anywhere. Owners don't really want to share the national revenues among more than the 30 teams even with a share of the buy-in. Best chance for Nashville in the near term is an existing team to re-locate (get sold). Likely OAK would be ticketed for LV but others could be in play.

I have heard the exact opposite. That after getting the stadiums situated for both OAK and TAM, that MLB definitely wants to add two more teams and get to 32. Two new franchises would add conservabley $4-8 Billion to MLB, assuming the going rate for a MLB franchise is around $2-3B, not to mention 2 more farm systems, and 80 ML roster spots. So the MLBPA would be behind expanding as well.
And it will allow for even scheduling every day.

Yeah I've heard expansion +2 teams and soon..with Nashville/Montreal, 🇨🇦/Portland/Monterrey,🇲🇽/Mexico City, 🇲🇽 and Vancuver,🇨🇦 and San Antonio all vying for 2 expansion teams and perhaps 2 or 3 relocations..
Las Vegas has made it clear they wouldn't rule out a relocation (A's) team as well... The international Canada and/or Mexico TV markets could influx enough $$ (no where near US market TV deal) but enough along with Merch exposure to existing teams gear to make it a sound financial move.. not to mention the franchise fees etc MLB could impose on these new markets would also be significant
