Around the League...non Padres
Quote from Jeremy Hill on April 27, 2022, 10:19 amSaw this article yesterday. I'm curious to see if the upcoming roster reduction leads to any swaps. Obviously we had interest in Smith before. There have to be other similar situations throughout the league. Maybe we can send a bullpen arm somewhere for a position player to clean up our own roster situation a bit.

Quote from sportwarrior on May 1, 2022, 10:02 pmThe Giants had a disastrous weekend vs a pretty poor Nationals team. 14 runs given up on Friday, 11 more runs given up today, and Webb gave up 11 hits over 6 innings in their one win on Saturday. Their entire lineup feels like it's hitting below the Mendoza line, as well. It's admittedly wishful thinking to say this is them falling back to earth, but wow do I hope that's the case.

Antoine Kelly, LHP, Brewers: The Brewers may be building another budding pitching development success story. Kelly was the club's second-round pick in 2019 out of Wabash Valley (Ill.) JC. He set a career high in strikeouts last night as he fanned 10 High-A Fort Wayne hitters while allowing only one hit and one walk in five scoreless innings.

Courtesy Jos Posnanski: You look up now, as the MLB.com headline says, he’s pitching at Cy Young level … literally. His core numbers are excellent — in five starts, he has struck out 41 batters in 31 2/3 innings, he had a 2.27 ERA, and an 0.979 WHIP. All that’s good. But what makes this a literal Cy Young season is that so far he has not walked a single batter or given up a single home run.
And the last person to have five consecutive starts without allowing either a home run or a walk was, yes, Cy Young himself.

Ryan Pepiot Los Angeles DodgersThe Angles have six starters. The Padres have six starters. Dodgers are next.
It's all about giving their starters a day at the beach.
Ryan Pepiot (P) LA - May. 07
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=16083Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Pepiot is "part of the conversation" to serve as a sixth starter for the Dodgers, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Pepiot has gotten off to a strong start at Triple-A Oklahoma City this year, posting a 2.05 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 26.1 innings over six starts. The right-hander hasn't yet made his major-league debut, but the Dodgers are considering a six-man rotation in May since the team has 31 games in 30 days. Even if Pepiot isn't called up as a sixth starter this month, it wouldn't be surprising to see him join the big-league club at some point in 2022.

Quote from BoosterSD on May 10, 2022, 12:20 pmAccording to MLBTR, it looks as if our pal Paddack is heading towards a second TJ surgery. Looks as if AJ traded him just in time. So that trade is looking even better now.

Milwaukee Brewers select the contract of RHP Luis Perdomo, option 1B Keston Hiura.
Perdomo saw his first action with Milwaukee Saturday, allowing one run in two innings, better than his career rate. But the four baserunners also represented a higher mark than his 1.52 career WHIP, which likely needs to come down for him to stick in a major league bullpen. Hiura, meanwhile, struck out in 20 of 42 plate appearances, a .688 OPS not so dismal as last year but not enough to win him further chances with the big-league unit.

How can the season get any worse?
How about throwing a no hitter and losing?
Yikes!
