Kim/Campusano for Verdugo/Brandon Walter?

Imagine being a Red Sox fan and seeing Xander go to SDP

Then SDPs SS comes to you

But watching Withlock go to SDP...

Really have no interest in Whitlock, dont see the need for another hybrid short inning SP/RP.

SD needs real SP that can go every 5 days, especially next season. Not trading a premier trade chip for a hybrid.

I like Brandon Walter.LH with great control and improved velocity after his comeback from TJ.

He's already had TJ....so he has that going for himself, which is nice.

Kim/Campusano for Verdugo/Brandon Walter?

If BOS is looking to compete this year, which would be why they would trade for Kim. Then why would they give up their starting RFer?

Plus, for $6.9M in possible arb, dont know if Verdugo offers enough at the plate to be any value to SD.

I would prefer Murphy over Walter. Murphy threw more innings last season, so probably ready for more of a workload over Walter. Plus, Murphy was born in the LA area and went to college at USD. So some local ties. 😉

Nellie baby wtf!

Kim for Casas lets go!

Absolutely incredible how consistently Nightengale is wrong about stuff. It was UCL surgery, but was not Tommy John. How does this dude hold down his job?

Nellie baby wtf!

I like the bat, as long as his vision is right and can hit again. But do we really need a DH, at the cost of a SP?

I think I would rather have Cueto over Cruz.

Really guys, we are one major injury to Darvish, Snell, or Musgrove from not doing anything this season.

Not that this is even a remote possibility, but still, hard pass on Verdugo. I'd much rather bring Profar back at around that cost.

Seriously. This starting pitching right now is about as deep as a bath tub. It'd be unacceptable to start the season without at least one more arm that can eat innings.

He has Petco power 😆 🤣 😂

But in all honesty why can't we get both... a SP and a BAT like Nellie (who by the way was the most shifted player in baseball)

We move Kim for a pre-arb controlled arm (or include Pomz per say as part of the deal ) creating enough $$ for both a SP and Nellie (or other)

Taking a step back and focusing on the the Padres being in the best position to win the NL West and move in the playoffs is adding a PROVEN mid to upper rotation arm better (more reliable) than Martinez, Lugo, and the assembled multitude.

All the other ideas are “nice” but not at the expense of (in 2023) Grisham or Kim whose departure could create a worrisome hole to be filled by fringe players.

Many are considering this current roster one of the best (100 win type) so should not make a hasty move with regulars unless is is for a proven upgrade at a position of greater need. Not the time to take gambles on rebounds, injury recovery, etc.

Could see Preller (and the potential trade partners) allow some time to focus on the final FA signings, arbitration contracts, get to ST to have a better assessment of what they have (including health) and then in ST make the moves on trades.

Given Grisham and Kim are legit players at high value positions with potentially multiple teams interested and little in the way of alternatives … Preller can just wait it out (not worried if a trade does not happen given the current team) and wait for the potential trade partners break and offer better than what the offer now.

Takes two to make a trade … and maybe more pressure on the potential trade partners to make the deal than on Preller.

Proven impact SP or bust! (Good chance Preller stays pat until the trade deadline).
