Getting no sense of any serious bidders on Benintendi or Conforto ... interest yes but no push to sign. Unclear what they are holding out to get which could be part of the hold-up. Early projections had Benintendi on a 4 year deal (that could be a issue) and about $14MM per. On Conforto a real unknown having not played last year ... Boras the agent ... need for a year to reestablish his value.

Sort of between those two as the top of the LHH OF market. Benintendi is the more sure thing for 2023 but Conforto has the better upside if you like power. At what difference in price does the gamble on Conforto make more sense than Benintendi. IF Benintendi is $56MM/4 years, would Conforto at $12MM (with incentives and 2024 option) become a better signing considering the risk? How HIGH would you go on Conforto to consider the deal equal value / risk  to the $56MM/4 for Benintendi?

If Comforto is willing to sign a 1 yr deal to " re-establish" value Petco and SD should be his 30th choice... Cimcy/Pitt and/or Colorado a top of his list...

I just went through all the SP left .. Wacha might be the best $$ bet... Eovaldi and Rodon both cost us 2 picks and -$1mil in Intl signings .. in 2024.. BUT give us legit TOR type arms (Insurance for top 3 as well as HUGE upgrade at #4)... otherwise go get some bats and settle on Davies and ST Invite Cole Hamels and call it a day..

1/13 for Syndergaard feels fairly reasonable. It also could be $13m for a "starter" who averages 4+ ip per start with an era north of 4.

I think this is going to be a sneaky good signing by LAD. Syndergaard was still averaging 94 mph with his fastball last season, and had an ERA under 4.00 in 134 innings.

If you take health out of the equation, Conforto is the better player. They are similar on OBP, with Conforto being stronger on defense, and more power. But with not playing since the end of the 2021 season, Conforto has questions surrounding him. Is the timing still there, is the shoulder healthy, how many games can handle in his first season back.

My max on Conforto would be $12-14M, after that, I would take the slightly younger, and more consistent Benintendi.

Except they have no need to sign a guy just for 1 year for him to gain his value back and leave.

Of the remaining FAs, I could handle Wacha, Cueto, or Kluber as additions in order of preference. I also feel we'll end up with Lugo on some kind of creative deal. I also am starting to feel as though we should just dangle whatever farm material we have left to land some young controllable starting pitching. This is our absolute all-in year, so let's go all-in. We can't afford to leave our staff short handed.

Why I was bringing up the MArlins.

If they aren't competing the next two years and need a SS...they should be all over Merrill.

A combo of Merrill/Lizarraga/Zavala should be enough to get one of their controllable SP's.

Or even Kim to play SS the next 2 seasons AND Merrill and another prospect.

That would at least give their fans a starting level SS to pair with Jazz for the next couple years until Merrill is ready.

BUT, most every other contender, many with better systems w/ closer to the majors prospects, will also be in on their guys.

I want a WS championship in the next 3 years...those prospects won't have any impact on that.

In consideration to this, let me propose this trade and signings.

SD gets D'Arnaud and Fried. ATL gets Kim, Nola, Merrill, Lesko, and Zavala.

Then we sign Wacha, Brantley, Myers, Cesar Hernandez, and Barnhart.

Our rotation is Darvish, Fried, Musgrove, Snell, Wacha, Martinez.

Crone stays at 2B, Brantley/Myers split 1B/DH, and Hernandez and Barnhart upgrade our bench

I dont think that MIA would want Kim, as he would waste away prior to them being ready. I still think the best fit of a trade of Kim is to MIN, and we get Arraez, place him at 1B, and keep Crone at 2B. Or a mega trade with ATL.

Then get Berti and Lopez/Luzardo/Cabrera for prospects. And if we have enough left, still see if we could get Fried out of ATL.

Lets just hope that CHC sign Swanson, and leave MIN and ATL holding an empty SS bag, then SD can get the two to bid against each other for Kim.

I have to think there's a .5% chance Atlanta is trading Fried.

Not sure where or why all those rumors popped up but it makes zero sense.

Morton will be gone after this season....why trade you LH Ace who makes $12 mil?
