Maybe a 3 team deal? Maybe part of a more complex deal? Given Lamet’s age, 2 year control, pay, and unreliability I would be fine with moving him … and suspect some RP needy contender might be willing to take the gamble.

Kind of what I was thinking when I said the CHC would/could flip Lamet for something that they really needed.

Have to wonder if it would be a good trade for CHC and SD to swap Lamet and Happ. With CHC further dropping back in the standings in the NL Central, MLBTR is wondering if they will sell off some pieces.

Both Lamet and Happ are FAs after the 2023 season. Happ is making about $2.1M more than Lamet. SD could use the OF help, and Lamet could become a useful piece on their pitching staff. Or CHC could flip him for a younger piece to someone else looking for some more immediate help.

AJP loves Contreras .. so he could be DH/C also expiring...

Actually Happ is not a FA ..he is on his final arb yr... so he represents a 1 1/2 yr player if acquired.. he could be pricey... But also a natural fit OF/2B/3B/DH... for the team taking Cano's or Alcantaras spot on the 26...He is also an upgrade over Profar/Myers at COF... and Voit at DH.. so he would play somewhere everyday...

God I wish Tatis comes back (end of June) and quotes B Springsteen..."Put me in coach I am ready to play Center field"

Was just listening to a media guy who is covering the Pirates. Had some “interesting” comments on Reynolds.

Apparently having a poor season … a lot of chasing bad pitches and has changed his launch angle trying for more HR (not working). Worried that he is regressing to his 2020? Struggling to hit above .220. Basically not a positive review of the 2022 Reynolds.

Given the Pirates recent history, this reporter would not be surprised to see him traded as early as this season and knew the Padres were interested. He did not see the Pirates getting better via their prospects for a few more years … payroll is very low and given very very poor attendance will stay low.

Based on the assessment … the asking price might have dropped …

Well I know they were asking for the moon prior to the season.. so if the price is now a top 5 spec and a top 10-15 + top 20-30 dude then I say go for it... (if as rumored before the season) they are still looking for 3 top 10 specs...I say hard pass...

That song is John Fogerty not Springsteen.

The next time a Padre hits a home run will be?

With every game of poor offense that goes by the angrier I get at Tatis’s selfishness.

He was handed a statue contract and either thinks he is invincible or just isn’t thinking.

By all means have fun….but you can have fun without being reckless.

His owner who pays him,his team mates who depend on him and his fans who love him are all suffering….while he’s still being paid.

I’m sure he’s unhappy and probably embarrassed by this…..as he should be.

Getting hurt playing baseball at 100 mph is one thing.

End rant.

The bottom of the 6th inning tonight was the correct answer.

Sorry,no one guessed it.

Johnny tell them what they would have won!

So are we to assume that Preller is just content to wait until the trade deadline to make any moves for some offense?

Could he be waiting until the bullpen arms coming back are ready so he can use some arms as trade pieces?

The longer he waits the more other contending teams he will be in competition with it would seem.

I get that some teams aren’t going to want to trade good players right now because they don’t “have too”,but these losses on May mean just as much as any other…..so maybe offer a bit more to get a guy?

Benintendi will be a free agent after this year…why wouldn’t the Royals trade him tomorrow?

Naquin from Cincinnati?

Laureano from Oakland?

Several,options from Baltimore?

Is there a real reason to wait until the deadline?……cause we can’t just get losses back.
