The Padres cannot remake half their roster. Myers had a couple of seasons where he just missed 30-30. Renfroe was among the league leaders is homeruns and won several games for us by himself in the first half. People were talking about how we had SO much value to trade from with Renfroe and Reyes. Now Renfroe is worthless? How quickly we forget. They are both productive when they are on. We cannot replace them. We have nobody to replace them with.

I have seen Urias’ name surface before but hard to see him being moved .... first the return would be way less of value than having Urias at 2B considering the Padres have zero set-up to take on 2B in 2020. Slow start but hitting over .300 in Sept and plus defense for 2B. Plus he is the back-up SS when Tatis goes down with injury.

Padres would have to include him in a major trade with others to get a major ML piece in return ... not really likely.

I think it boils down to we need two additions to the lineup “somewhere” that increases our OBP greatly.

Where and who are up to AJ and Fowler’s wallet.

I’d Love if we could somehow move Myers and sign Rendon to play 2b........trade Urias/Naylor/Mejia/Lauer/Quantrill/Morejon or whoever we have too for another bat or TOR starter.

We could live with Hedges/Allen/Torrens behind the plate if we added Rendon and another bat(Dickerson/Inciarte etc).

I just think Myers and Renfroe have similar attributes and deficiencies as players. I think the Padres FO covets Defense, Speed, OBP, lower K rates and higher walk rates. Fenn, I’m with you on Urias. I don’t want the Padres to give up on him, but if he can be used as a piece to acquire a big time starter or an OF bat they covet, I could see it happening. I personally want to see a full season of Urias  and Tatis up the middle. The reports about Urias being stubborn and opposed to changes in his swing mechanics do concern me. He’s way too late on fastballs.

Actually pretty comfortable with a Mejia-Hosmer-Urias-Tatis-Machado INF providing playoff quality offense plus acceptable defense. If they stay healthy.

May not take the much adjustments in the OF to get the Padres into the wild card hunt .... Inciarte maybe .... Dickerson maybe .... ?????

I personally think we should just ride it out without major changes this year. We will be much better next year as it is.

Or would you go get say LINDOR who as a switch hitter balances your lineup is a GG SS and likely even better at 2B.. I think AJP will look to imptove wherever and whenver presented with an opportunity .. But yeah they ain't moving Urias unless a Whit, Lindor .McNeill type upgrade player ia coming to SD
