They lost on Saturday (Musgrove used pitchers choice to wear the City jerseys) … so time to agree SD got duped with the Miami West jerseys.

Quote from TucsonClip on August 1, 2022, 6:21 amQuote from fenn68 on August 1, 2022, 4:34 amAnother rumor with the Padres “interested” in Bell (if true and how interested open to question) but curious with the DH/1B role already clogged with Hosmer, Voit, and Myers (who apparently is limited to DH/1B with his knee). That is where Bell fits and on a 13 man ML position player limit (2 going to catchers) … not going to fit all four in.
Is Myers knee going to keep him on the IL? Reports are that he is back in SD and maybe activated soon (consistent with deadline moves)?
Is Hosmer going on the IL with new reports suggesting he has s stiff neck? Lame idea but …. Other reports say the Padres are not “looking to trade Hosmer” but that does not suggest they would not if that fell into place as part of another deal.
Is one of Myers, Voit, or Hosmer buried in a deal for Bell (or someone else) to offset AAV?
Is all this just a smoke screen to clear the path for the next Adam Frazier?
Reading and listening to Lin for a years, that sounds a lot like him saying, obviously Bell would be an upgrade over Hosmer. He leaves it there which suggests there likely isn't any way it's possible, just they it's an obvious upgrade.

Quote from Henry Silvestre on August 1, 2022, 6:26 amHaving a double header on Trade deadline day is some kind of STUPID MLB scheduling.. WTF... Imagine game 1 CJ /Myers/Morejon/Grisham/Nola all pulled and corresponding move/s not arriving til night game or Wednesday... we could be very short handed for game 2..or both games.. think Pads better have 1/2 El Paso roster in SDP tomorrow morning for quick depth moves..

Bryan Reynolds, CF, Pirates — It’s unlikely the Pirates will trade Reynolds, a 2021 All-Star who is controllable for three-plus seasons. But if the Padres fall short in their bid for Soto, they could pivot and overwhelm the Pirates with a trade offer they couldn’t refuse.
Doesn't mention us in his teams in on Bell.
Also says we have made all our top prospects available, including Wood, for Soto.

Yeh, probably would have made more sense to put the doubleheader on Wednesday. Monday or Thursday would have been issues with travel days.
Maybe we can see a SD-COLO deal where players change teams between game? It has happened before.

Bowden over the past few weeks has been shotgunning a wide swatch of ideas … I guess that keeps in relevant in the media.
Side: did a quick look at who among Soto - Happ - Reynolds is currently hot with the idea is a deal first and foremost is immediate impact … that is NOT Reynolds who is just coming off injury … he may be a long term plus but more of a short term risk. Happ has been “better” than Reynolds but not really all that mush impact. Soto is, on the other hand is tearing it up.

Bowden: The Padres are going for it, and there are no untouchables in their farm system. San Diego is in the mix on Soto, Contreras and every quality outfielder and reliever who is available.

IMO, we need Happ more than Contreras. I dont see that big of upgrade from our current C situation versus adding Contreras. So for me, its Soto and Happ/Robertson.
And if you see some situation where Myers and Hosmer are traded, which is not going to happen, then Bell is the better get than Contreras. So, Soto, Bell, Happ, and Robertson.
