Trades June/July/Deadline

PreviousPage 83 of 125Next

I would love a Wilson for Barlow type move.. trade potential good looking rookie BP arm who has had some huge moments and some bad ones... for us..for a BP with closing experience..then again we would need 2 pitchers moved with Baez up to accommodate trade + traded for P... could be a BP arm for a spec..or position player too.  Or just an up and down simple move

I have not heard the word today but most expected Myers to be activated today … he played in his rehab yesterday and should be ready for 1B/DH … not looking like a OF option yet given how he was used in EP.

So, POTENTIALLY Myers and Baez added. Could option players but could open a couple of 26 man roster players being dealt for X and then still need a player optioned to make room for X.

Next 8 hours will make all clear.

Potentially a domino effect in Preller moves (just making this up).

Trade Lamet and Voit (replaced by Baez and Myers) for a PTNL and save about the prorated portion of their combined $10MM AAV … enough to cover the add of most of the targeted players. Both Lamet and Voit can be DFA so no long term commitment to either by the buyers … so only a $1.5-2.0MM buy for a non-prospect PTNL.

Lamet has a lot of potential buyers at that price … worth the gamble for a RP needy team (worse than the Padres). A couple potential buyers for Voit … Cleveland for one.

That $10MM space could fund Bell or Happ or Contreras … one being attainable for a modest prospect package. Or for the big thinkers … more than half the way in paying for Soto (just add Myers to that deal and hope free!)

And if we go Sean Murphy or Contreras route..can easily carry 3 C with Alfaro taking the DH role * Voit is really DH only with only a handful of starts at 1B.. so more position flex with Myers/Alfaro vs Voit or Voit/Hosmer (1B only)

Trade 1. LAA sends Othani + Thor

SDP sends Voit *DH Othani spot.+..Snell (+1 yr control vs exp Thor) keeps LAA somewhat in compete mode for 23...

Now for the Specs.. Hassell +  Campusano + Morejon + Mears + CJ Abrams

Trade 2. MYERS + Acosta + Howell for Josh Bell

Trade 3 Hosmer +$20mil + Zavala + Ornelas to Cubs for Happ + Robertson

Adds Othani DH/SP.. Thor SP..Josh Bell 1B.. Ian Happ OF + Robertson CL/BP

Lineup

1 Othani DH

2 Tatis CF/RF/SS

3. Manny 3B

4. Josh Bell 1B

5. Ian Happ LF/CF

6. Crone zone 2B

7. Alfaro C

8. Kim SS (vs lhp) Grishman CF (vs RHP)

9. MAZARA RF (vs RHP)/Profar LF vs LHP

That is one sexy lineup

Yu/Othani/Musgrove/Clev/Manea/Thor.. can keep 6 man rotation with this depth or transition Clev to BP to ease his IP load and ready him for playoff role..2-3-4 IP

One way or another I think we need to move Hosmer in the next 41/2 days cause we won't be able (10/5 veto power no waiver trades now after deadline) after Tuesday at 3pm.. for the remainder of his contract...I for one am done with Eric at 1B

Otani is not getting traded. From MLBTR

The Post duo spoke with three executives whose teams have reached out to the Angels, all of whom characterized the chances of a trade as extremely low due to an unsurprisingly enormous asking price.

Trade 2. MYERS + Acosta + Howell for Josh Bell

Not enough for Bell, and WAS wants NOTHING to do with Myers.

Agree it is not enough IF Myers in the deal.

However, looking at the Benintendi deal … and not a lot of teams apparently in hot pursuit of Bell … Bell for Acosta and Howell might be close.

Do think they would take Myers (FA after the year) as a cost offset for the Padres picking up Bell (FA after the year) IF Padres really upgraded the prospect included in the deal …

If they went the catcher add route … expect that Nola goes the other way as a bridge to whoever is their future.

I can't get Lamet's near Cy Young season just a couple season ago out of my head.

Should we really trade him for a bag of peanuts?

Maybe the answer is yes?

Maybe we re-sign him while his value is lowest and he's a huge part of our rotation in 2024-?

He's still so young and that slider is still so damn good.....
