Trades June/July/Deadline

PreviousPage 75 of 125Next

Probably have seen the end of Rogers as the closer .... even without a trade would expect within a week the closer slot being tossed to Suarez and/or Morejon. Then maybe in mid-August to Pomeranz.

Not familiar with this stat but interesting on Rogers:

Eno Sarris
He had a bad luck today, but Taylor Rogers' Stuff+ is down from 128 in the first couple months of the season to 102 since June first. Lost horizontal movement and drop on his sinker, release point has drifted up an inch or two. Developing need in San Diego.

Rogers' inability to close aside ... any hitting with RISP would have put the Padres far enough ahead that the closer would not be an issue.

Limited trade chips ... need hitters first ... and more than relying on Tatis / Myers returns. Facing good pitching in the playoffs in consecutive games ... expect to barely put any runs on the board and even if Musgrove, Darvish, et al are on their game ... would expect losses unless they (and the pen) pitch shutouts.

I'd like to see CL Barlow (KC) + C Sean Murphy (A's) as Padres as soon as tomorrow ..as well as Musgrove extension officially done...

Sort of having our bird/s on our hand...and going after 2 on the bush

I agree. While Rogers has not been good we should have larger leads than 1 run against the Starters they threw at us in this series.

Skubal is good….but our offense leaves our Starters and our Pen with no margin for error.

Blurb on MLBTR were Passan from ESPN wrote yesterday that some rival executives believe the Cardinals and Padres are the clubs with the best chance of prying Soto out of Washington.

Sounds as if the main player back to WAS from STL is Gorman (ML), Liberatore (#2), and Graceffo (#5). STL is trying to keep Jordan Walker (#1) and Masyn Winn (#4) rank according to MLB.com.

So SD package maybe Abrams, Hassell, and Gasser to match STL, and then each club probably needs to add 2-3 mid level guys as well.

The first "big" move has just been made, NYY gets Benintendi from KC, in return KC gets 3 MiL pitchers. Sikkema (#19), Way (#20), and Champlain (#NR) according to MLB.com.

Guess the jab didnt stop NYY.

Benintendi to NYY for 3 prospects

Expect to see Gallo in a SD uni by game time Friday?

Gallo for Kerr and cash, no CBT money to SD.

For context...thats like Tirso Ornelas + Matthew Batten and Vega from us... for Beni...

Don't expect Contreras for that ..C is premium position and SLG costs more.. Beni wouldn't have solved our lack of SLG. We get on base a enough we need SLG to get them in..

My wish list for this Deadline in no particular order

CL Barlow

C Sean Murphy

1 of Soto RF.. Reynolds CF.. Happ OF/IF (this is in order of preference)

1B Josh Bell

If AJP delivers all 4. I like our chances...

Kerr is too much... maybe Azocar.. The thought of Gallo in RF in Detroit today (OUT and the save for Rodgers)... has me all fuzzy
