I know some of us on here have focused on getting Castillo from CIN, however, we all know that Preller has always had interest in Syndergaard.

He is making $21M this season in LAA and they are not going any where this season. So Myers, Lamet, Weathers, and one more decent prospect for Syndergaard? Myers and Lamet balance out the money for Syndergaard, so it would be at that time, Weathers and prospect for Syndergarrd?

I may be in the minority but I think Wethers will be really really good ..so not trading him for 2 months of Noah... He is still super young

Which may be why LAA would want him instead of some prospect that we don't think will be that good ... especially if the Padres want them to eat the $7MM of Syndergaard remaining contact.

Have to give to get.

I know Adell isnt your favorite, however, with the potential CBT crunch for 2023 even and the potential need for up to 4 OFers. I wonder if it would make sense for SD and LAA to talk about Syndergaard and Adell and cash for Campusano, Knehr, and Mears.

LAA has plenty of middle INF prospects at different levels, and Stassi and Suzuki are not getting any younger.

Then make the trade for Murphy.

First make the trade for Murphy to lock down which prospects go … then with the leftovers work on the LAA deal.

Yeh, don’t see Adell a big asset for the Padres but would take him if the LAA threw him in. More focused on LAA covering Syndergaard’s remaining $7MM by giving them prospects.  Campusano makes sense as the key prospect and probably Knehr work as the 2nd piece but need something better than Mears (who really has no trade value). Maybe a Rosier is a more appealing fit if they seek OF support.

Cubbies giving Contreras a standing O every AB... knowing this is his last home game before the deadline...

Cubs win 6th straight

Ian Happ also tipping his cap to the home crowd.. I think they both know this is their final game at Wrigley

Sean Murphy is an absolute stud...He is also trending on 🔥. His last 7/15 and 30 days have been awesome...and we all know A's stadium suppresses offense as much as Petco does... so Yes Please... wonder if Laureano comes with as well...

We would need +1 OF bat.. or a Josh Bell 1B add with a Hosmer ship him out somewhere counter move...

I too prefer Murphy >Contreras... for the $$ control aspect and the D >

Skubal apperantely available now too.. mark my words this kid is as good as Musgrove with a better knack for missing bats and lefty...

AJP should deal for him BEFORE we face him tomorrow... he can just walk across the clubhouse

Just saw a blurb on MLBTR, where WAS will NOT require teams to take on bad contracts in order to obtain Soto.

Seems like they just want the best available players coming back, and dont want to "water down" the return by attaching Corbin or Strasburg.

So......we SD fans can keep dreaming and not have to worry about making 50 moves in order to accommodate Corbins huge CBT number.

Just make enough moves to make room for Soto number this season, and adjust in the offseason. OR, Siedler strokes a penalty check, and we go for it this season and still can adjust in the offseason.

So go get Soto, Murphy, and Syndergaard and get the WS Ring!

Would the Padres have enough prospects (that WASH, OAK, and LAA would want) and have enough left over to attach to “bad contracts” to clear the AAV space?

It is about who they would want … not who we want to give them.

I think we have enough...just not sure we would have a System left lol...except for the 22 draft and the journeyman left

With WASH taking the position that they don’t need to attach Corbin to the deal and want 4-5 quality prospects but do not need to deal NOW and could easily wait until the winter when more teams may be motivated to play, here is a “straw dog” proposal:

Padres get Soto.

Nats get:

1. Part 1 (AAV offset to help the Padres)

Myers (being a FA after the season … no long term payroll drag on WASH)

Lamet (some upside with control and a good chance they could flip him in 2023)

2. Part 2 (the propsects)

Abrams (top 10 in MLB type)

Gore or Morejon (WASH choice)

Campusano (Top 100, value position)

Weathers (still has upside, young)

3. Part 3 (prospects longer shots, lower level)(could mix and match a lot here)

Rosier (non-roster OF on the rise)

Vela (non-roster SP on the rise)

2 1/2 years of Soto … 2 1/2 years of playoff hunts (most critical in 2022-23) … could be flipped in 2023-24 if team not contending (and don’t plan to resign him) and recoup a couple of quality prospects.

I thought about Laureano/Murphy package..+ Soto....

Pre game (rain delay) talking Othani could be in play at Deadline.. (not necessarily for Pads but in general)... Othani + Murphy would be someting..something... 3 players in 2 bodies
