Only issue I have with Walker is the really low BA and the RH bat.

The pop is there, so that is nice. But be ready for the 3 outcome approach. And he will costs a couple of good prospects, due to his length of control.

He would instantly be the HR leader of SD and 3rd in RBIs when he arrived.

Has adding a SP and the potential trading of Snell been shelved with Melvin going to a 5 man rotation and sending Gore / Martinez to the pen as long relief?

Adding a SP will cost prospects that may be needed to land bats to help the offense and just clogs up the roster already set up for difficulties with the arms returning from the IL.

Given the roster it looks as though Snell will be needed as that 5th SP … so trading him for CBT relief (not getting help for 2022 in return) creates a hole (for 22 and 23).

With one week to go … not a lot of time to move Snell and get an upgraded SP while also trying to upgrade the offense. Only so many trade chips and money part of the equation.

Should be an busy coming weekend/Monday.

Yeah but we need that Pop.. last night 13 hits.. 6 BBs .. only 5 runs... need that SLG.. also read Walker BABIP is quite low so look for a 2nd half surge.. but our biggest need is Power.. and Walker is a tremendous defender at 1B..

I think AJP will make a move sometime between now and Thursday (offday) including Musgroves extension (Thursday).. maybe Xander ..maybe BP Barlow type a move.. would love the AZ deal (^^)getting done to sort of win our hand and play with house money for Soto all the way through... having nothing done leading to deadline will not be good

Sure, but he has not been starting / going long for some time … can he return to that role effectively down the stretch?

However, Preller does like 3 team trades (or coordinated deals) …. So maybe Snell out Davies in with prospects filling in the blanks. Probably not ideal to make one of the deals before securing agreement on the second.
