Toronto puts up another 11 in the 5th … now leading 25-3 IN BOSTON.

Fans, media, talk shows are going to be out of control tomorrow (if not now). Plus Eovoid I started and got hammered.

27-4... Sox have been terrible for like a month now .. they need to blow it up...

😆 😂 😆 😂  Everyone we've been trying to trade get rid of came up BIG today...Hosmer ..Grishman ... Voit...Nola ...LoL...

Something to keep in mind..Hosmer OWNS Max now career .315 vs him in over 50ABS with 3 HRs...we could be facing him in the offseason... YU is 5-0 at Mets now...

From CBS Sports.

See the last part.

Also, does AJ have any more sense of urgency to keep Soto from the Dodgers(Division rival) and the Cards(Wildcard rival).

every time the thought of a deal to keep someone away from another team ... my thoughts drift back to .......... RANDY MYERS ... and the disaster that was for years.

I think it’s safe to say that Juan Soto isn’t Randy Myers.

Not the player … but “paying extra” to block a player to another team does.

Eric Hosmer, who doubled earlier tonight, hit an opposite-field two-run homer off Max Scherzer in the fourth. Hosmer now has a .930 career OPS against Scherzer, the highest for any player with at least 50 ABs.

I want to keep him now....just to face Max in the postseason

Xander and JD Mart ..should become available soon... Dont hate Xander 2B and Crone 1B tbh

Preller on the phone to the NYY?

NYY just lost one of their best RP for the season … the most used set-up man with an ERA around 2.00.

Padres need to make some CBT payroll space and RP options coming off the IL and in the minors.

Would the NYY buy some insurance with Lamet who can be installed in AAA until needed (if not to the ML now) .. price in 2022 about $1.5MM is not limiting to them … can Non-Tender him in 2023 if his $4.5MM base is not wanted.

Would the NYY be interested in Garcia who would carry a $1MM price tag for the remaining of and is not to expensive in 2023. Padres would have to be confident in their internal options.

Neither would get to space the Padres need but might get them closer pending other moves.

NO … not taking Gallo back for either even if NYY pay the entire amount owed him.

I would take either … but the Bogart’s deal would be tricky.

Bogarts has a $20MM AAV … is under contract for $20MM/yr for the next 3 years BUT has an opt out after 2022 and with his performance (and being only 29) is very very likely to opt out. Think the buyer and BOST know that so in this case “trade value” may be a lot lower than if he had no opt out.

Depends if BOST want to play but for the Padres to cover the CBT … send Myers ($14MM AAV … but about the same cash for 2022 … and gone after the season as will be Bogarts) and Snell ($10MM AAV but will be around in 2023 while the Red Sox will still need pitching) so from a BOST perspective they have to spend some additional cash in 2022 (Snell’s remaining pay) but AAV stays about the same while getting an asset for 2023. My guess would be if this was even possible … Padres would need to add a prospect (not a Top 5) but a decent prospect.

Another alternative … given the hole BOST has (and will have) at 1B … send Hosmer ($18MM AAV but same cash) and Snell … again cost same 2022 dollars (cash) and a slightly higher AAV but get both Hosmer and Snell for 2023. Maybe still need to add that prospect.

Key is BOST knowing it is going to lose Bogarts after the season via the opt out and who else is making an offer … and how good.

If they went Martinez, who will be a FA after the season … could use the same components I guess. Martinez being a DH only would garner a bit less interest but not a lot less for 2 months.

I will take either … assuming the Red Sox will work to solve the Padres AAV issue. Other question is how the Red Sox will value reloading for 2023 (e.g. Snell or Hosmer) vs prospects that will not help for years. Hard to see BOST go rebuild given their fan base.

Send NYY Stanmen + Hill and Lamet...one should fill their void ..creates room for Castillo + Johnson (starting rehab) + soon to be other... 2 of the 3 aren't even on the 26 now..replacing Hill with Castillo a big +

  1. Speaking of Luis Garcia..I found it curious Nick Mart set up role last night (new role).8th... instead of Luis..is Luis being moved...or is AJP showcasing Nick Mart's Flexibility???

Or is BoMel simply smarter than all of us and gaining a better understanding on what Nick can do
