Trades June/July/Deadline

Cause he absolutely dominates in Jays Stadium 2 76 career ERA.. also at WC chaser Redsox Fenway 3.12 ERA... he loves Dodger stadium the most though 2.05
Amd their ownership is ALL in for 22..

Unless they use the kid to trade for Rodon or Castillo before Snell.

Quote from Henry Silvestre on July 16, 2022, 4:30 amI am looking at Alexis Diaz (who?) REDS.. and OMG!... he is a bit older 25 for a rookie..but this dude has a terrific arm and electric stuff out of the BP...not sure if Reds would even trade him.. BUT consider me inquiring about him on any trade anytime with the Reds...
Tyler Stephenson C is the other Red player I would ask for when picking up or dialing the REDS....He and Kirk are the best hitting young C in the game

Is Benintendi enough of an upgrade to displace one of these guys? And ramp up our Offense? Or are we better served with Contreras DH/C/1B or Bell 1B/DH or Mancini 1B/DH/.... giving g us > upgrades (with more power).. vs the station to station stick of Beni.... if it's Beni + one of these dudes ok I am in..but if it's just ONE Bat we are adding..??? Even with Tatis I think we need more SLG from that bat..based on what we currently have

I can’t get behind this thinking.
It’s all numbers and a few good starts in a Park doesn’t mean it will 100% continue.
A few starts is a small sample size.
We’ve seen enough of Snell to know it doesn’t matter what Park he’s in…he could implode at any moment “anywhere”.
Also,I can’t see a MLB GM looking beyond his overall bad numbers for the last few “years” and make a trade based on 2-3 starts at the Rodgers Center.

Should include Voit … could fit as DH or allow a rotation in DH if Voit is moved.
Agree that some power would be preferred and would lean toward Bell bumping Voit. Switch hitter who can also play 1B and be in the line-up full time might have the slight advantage over Contreras who would have to slide between C and DH to play full-time.
I guess … although one may be preferred … Preller should be flexible to be sure he does get at least one upgrade at a “fair price”. If he holds out until the seller makes up their mind on who they will trade with (or he vastly overpays) for the preferred target … the fallback options may be gone. August 2nd deadline is not changing and the clock could run out with nothing or get boxed into an overpay situation.
As fans we only see the upside of the add … but pretty sure any GM has their version of dealing for Ryan Ludwick … a showcase for the add not delivering no matter how well he had been preforming. Tempers the GM’s price to add.
Preller has maybe two weeks to assess how his targets are doing now (and if stay healthy … see Reynolds) and evaluate the return of Profar / Myers and the performance of the “bubble” players such as Voit, Ruiz. Also, make a gut evaluation of Tatis’ return impact. All may impact who becomes the preferred target.
It is really about the next two months and how they feel who will be hot and help carry them. Almost don’t care about the player’s past or future … just a gut on will he perform NOW (and of course the price to acquire).
I still a 50/50 of no major add … bet on Tatis - Profar - Myers - Ruiz providing the needed offensive boost. Also, would not surprise me to see an add to the SP with Gore on an innings limit … Snell not performing at playoff quality … some shakiness in Clevinger / Manaea. At the point with few games left … and the Wild Card race tight avoiding giving losses away with a poor SP effort is maybe more important than an incremental offfensive boost. Can’t fix everything in reality.

Agree … at the trade deadline usually more about what you are doing NOW for immediate impact. What a player did in his past (lets say 2018) is irrelevant.
Of course a team desperate may take a gamble … but not pay a premium price.
Snell (and his contract) balanced against his lack of quality consistent work in the past two years make him a tough sell but suspect a team would take that gamble for maybe some lower level prospects.
On the flip side, it sort of depends whether the Padres have just given up on Snell knowing that they could lose Musgrove, Manaea, Clevinger, and Martinez as FA … move Snell and 2023 SP is Darvish and Gore then ??? … 3-4 SP of any ML skill are hard to add in one winter (at on contracts that don’t break the bank).
So, if winning now is critical and willing to deal with the holes for 2023 next winter … and tired of Snell … might be willing to sell him for that minimal return just to clear CBT space … currently year would open space of an add.
I would (if I could) move on for Snell - Voit - Grisham … each of whom have raised my frustration level with consistent under performance from expectations … just can’t wait for their turnaround in a playoff run.

I have a feeling we empty the farm for Castillo.(and Diaz BP maybe).. and Contreras...
(Hassell + Campy + Wethers + Rosario + Mears and one of (Acosta/Susana)) costly YES .. BUT Musgrove/Castillo/Yu is pretty hard to match by any staff in October..
2-3-4 IP of Manea/Snell/Clev would be as deep a set of #1- #2 type SP as you can possibly have
Left after - 1 Wood 2 Merrill 3. Acosta/Susana (whoever survives)
Then bring in some would be 5-10 spec/s back in Voit/Snell/Lamet/ Hill type trade/s
