Yup Hays may even be more expensive than Reynolds...

With that said I think Hassell + Campy + Rosario + Wethers and Knehr (including Hosmer $$in the deal) for Hays + Mancini  could work for both clubs.   (Might take one more spec from us in the 10-20 range ..but think this is close)

Unfortunately according to BTV Hassell + Campy + Rosario + Weathers + Knehr is just enough to either get rid of Hosmer OR get just Hayes alone. Actually we still come up a little short for Hayes. Both? Not even close. Reality says we can possibly add a Mancini  but very little more.

I would do that for Hays or Reynolds to be 💯 honest...

2B ✔️

3B ✔️

SS ✔️

CF ✔️

1B Upgradable but ok with 4 pos locked

LF Profar above avg +

RF Mazara/Azocar avg

C Upgradable to avg

DH Avg but Upgradable

Having 4 sticks like Manny/Crone/Hays (or Reynolds) and Tatis on a lineup ..allows the other complimentary pieces some wiggle...chances are less than 30% than anyone of those players turn out to be anywhere close to what Reynolds or Hays are...if you go back to most WS Champs.. 1 stat line that sticks out is most all had 4 guys in that .280/20HR/80 RBI club... (with dead ball go -15 on BA.. .265/20/80... Tatis is 1...Manny is 2 atm... Voit is close on HR /RBI but needs a stronger 2nd half... Crone needs a big 2nd half to get his power (HR) number ..he is projecting the RBI.... (Tatis would need .265/8/35 or less to equate to that.. he might do .280/20/80 the way he hits in a 1/3 of a season...so yeah adding that type of bat (especially at the hardest position to do so in CF) could set us up for a 3-5 yr run ...

Also only reason to get rid of Hosmer NOW is if we added a Josh Bell.   No need otherwise til offseason... there are other ways ..a lot less (spec capital or even spec return) to create room... ie Lamet..Snell ..Myers (only owed $9mil and everyday less than)..etc...

Remember after this season Hosmer has 10-5 rights … so total veto power over any trade. Normally a player (or his agent) will demand something extra to waive the no trade rights making dealing Homser more difficult (expensive). $39MM/3 years for Hosmer would be hard to deal … and with that money guaranteed and playing in SD with buddy Machado probably really limits the teams he would accept to waive the no trade. So, likely, if Hosmer is not traded now the Padres have him for 3 years.

Do agree that Padres would need an equal or greater replacement 1B in 2022 if they want to contend … does not have to be Bell.

Just can’t see a Hosmer move happening. Hope he opts out after the season.

Myers … if they deal him with 1/3rd the season remaining the new team will be burdened with about $8MM (1/3 of $20MM and the $1MM 2023 buyout). Cannot see any contender wanting a player that has been injured and not playing while as a coming FA no value to a non-contender. So Padres would have to add a significant prospect … one worth $8MM. Don’t know how prospects are valued these days but that is in the zone of early 1st round talent in the draft. Makes little sense for the Padres do that for a player going away after the season anyway.

Seems like all roads lead to SNELL trade... easiest and highest return (control) ..need 3 more starts like his last one to re-build his value as much as possible

While we are at SNELL

Is a Blue Jays send P Ricky Tiedemann + C Luiz Meza (2 specs no 40..so more room for moves + 2 nice specs down the line to offset/as well as draft / any/all prospects we end up trading for other pieces

Put me down for not wanting to trade Campusano ... I believe he will be worth the wait ... ie. he will swing a major league bat ...

HALLELUJAH!

This kid is the highest rated catcher we've had since Alomar Jr.( and we see how that turned out!)

I'm trading Nola for a bucket of baseballs TODAY just to see Campusano in SD tomorrow. Give him the second half of the season with Alfaro( alternate the 2 between C and DH) to show what he's got.

If Melvin can't help this kid become an every day backstop, no one can. Time to find out what we actually have in one of our own.

I’m thinking if AJ thought Campys bat would help more than his defense or lack of working with the Staff would hurt,Nola would have a sudden sore elbow and hit the il.

wink wink nod nod.😉

Or he be listed as a C and not DH.. or be working at C 60+% of the time which he is not...  Trade him at high value now...

Do we hate Myers enough to trade him for Gallo ? How about Lamet for Gallo ? You know AJ won't stop till he has all of his old Rangers here.

Lol I just posted Gallo for Myers in San Diefo Union forum... Myers probably has more value right now but is also like $5mil more...so NYY looking for OF and Gallo basically un playable in NY... might do this in a heartbeat... even if Gallo sucks the $$ saved on the tax makes the deal a win for Pads and allows AJP the room $$ he needs to add....

Lamet for Gallo is an overpay ..I think we can get a better return for Lamet..in specs alone... with that said look for Lamet to Cubs as part of Contreras deal..both GMs have asked about Contreras and Lamet respectably for like 2 seasons... obviously Pads would be adding spec or 2 to the deal..

If we get Contreras C/DH... it also opens 1 of 2 possibilities.. a 2ndary trade involving Voit (Contreras/Alfaro >Voit at DH).... or 2 either Nola or Alfaro being moved

Not crazy about trading within the NLWest

But if we were to get Contreras C

Would an Alfaro for Yaztremski CF make sense..almost identical WAR for 2022

Or a Grishman + Nola for Yaztrmeski

I prefer the 2nd options.. but can u imagine those 2 coming back to bite us in the ass in a SF vs SD series... ??? In either case I'd gamble on that ... Yaz may not be a super star but he is very good scrappy player that makes us better at CF

1st things 1st lets toke 3 of 4 or a sweep here ..
