Well down to the wire and report is that the Padres are trying to trade Wil Myers ... that would be an impressive move to get under the CBT threshold.
FA after the season and owed about $7MM ... attach a prospect(s) some team likes and would work ... if the Padres have any prospects left to deal that som team deems worth $7MM.

4:02pm: Boston is acquiring prospects Corey Rosier and Max Ferguson, Cotillo reports.
3:59pm: There are multiple players involved in the deal, tweets Chris Cotillo of MassLive. Robert Murray of FanSided reports (on Twitter) that Boston is sending pitching prospect Jay Groome to San Diego.

No report on the money ... Padres are really cleaning out the farm.
I recall Groome was liked by Preller when he came out in the draft .. and Preller gets his man.
Still only 23 (AA/AAA) and OK stats as a SP ... in the mid-teens on the Boston prospect list so his star has dimmed a bit. Preller still probably sees something.

Trevor Rosenthal traded to the Brewers 2 weeks after signing with the Giants.

Did a quick look at Groome today. He has lost velocity from his draft days (down to low 90s) but still a good slider and decent control. Gotten bigger (over 250 so not in great shape).
Some view as a mid to bottom rotation ceiling but others see more of a long RP since his FP plays up early and loses velocity after a couple of innings.
On the 40 man.

BAL has just acquired OFer Brett Phillips from TAM, lets get crazy.
That leads to SD sending Myers and prospects to BAL for Mullins. Myers plays 1B in BAL and Mullins takes his place in the SD OF.
Of course, as I type this, Grisham is proving again, that we should not give up on him yet! HR to LF. Tie game.
