Perfect...we get more $$ to resign peeps..stay under and now can still get Contretas to C/DH...with Alfaro....Love it love it...and can keep Nola to C Yu... Get it done AJP!...Also have Myers to DH/1B/Give Soto day off.. etc..

Makes 1B/DH clearer ... Myers / Bell ... now that both Hosmer and Voit go. We will see once Tatis returns.
Note moving Voit saves the prorated part of his $5.5MM. IF Bost takes Hosmer's money for 2022 that is about 1/3 of $18MM AAV. Put those two together gets "close" to the increase for Soto / Bell.

As much as I love Voit..his lack of speed and inability to move runners (strikeouts) will be much easier to replace by Wil/Alfaro and ??

Padres have to put a big push to extend Bell now that Hosmer and Voit are gone and Myers to be a FA. If they let Bell walk ... really need a 1B and a DH and doubt they can buy that quality at a better price than what they will need for Bell. Zip in the near term to cover 1B - DH - CF - LF (as Profar opts out).

Looking forward to getting home and playing around with my excel spreadsheet and seeing where the dollars sit after all the dust settles. Then figuring out how SD can march forward in the offseason.
Are we sure he opts out? I think he loves SD, is on one of the best teams in ML, and Preller has shown a lot of faith in Profar. Maybe he stays.

So the prorated portion of 38.1m coming in with 35.53m going out if Boston takes on all of what Hosmer is owed this year.
