Might be jumping the gun on how soon he is here and productive ... still adapting to AA ... so would want to see a bit in the Padres organization before dumping Margot / Jankowski ...unless the offer is too good. Could we live with 2020 having Myers / Jankowski in CF and Naylor (or Cordero) in LF and be contenders? Probably not.

I don’t think Myers/Jankowski in CF next year would be any less productive than what we’ve gotten this year.

Do you?

Preller doesn’t make this deal if we don’t just lose 6 games in the standing in the last 2-3 weeks.

So blame the loss of Reyes on our inability to win games when we were just 2 games out of the WC 3-4 weeks ago.

Probably better offensively in CF with Myers but then in LF bit shaky offensive / defensively with Naylor the odds on option. Not putting any faith in a full time role for Jankowski (has not shown that level of skill so far).

Personnel I want Myers in LF ... just left alone to focus on one position and hitting in an effort to get him productive. He is a decent defensive LF and not so much in CF.

Different issue if the Padres come up with a bridge veteran CF (to pair with Jankowski) in wait for Trammel, then moving Margot (for a fair return) is workable.

Trammel was trending downward with the Reds fans and they are not sorry to see him go.....not much of a bat or arm. They are all wondering what else San Diego got for Reyes and Logan Allen......the Padres also included Victor Nova so the Indians give up Bauer and get Puig and Moss from the Reds and Reyes, Allan and Nova from the Padres and we get Taylor Trammell for 3 guys....2 of which have ML experience.....What the Heck

I think I said don't over pay at the deadline frenzy so we get a marginal CF AA prospect for 25-30 HR Outfielder, A Left Handed Pitcher that has started at the big league level and a 19 year old 3rd baseman......this seems to be a bit much for a no hit, no arm AA player

AJ must see something nobody else does

this could be an interesting twist:

9:28pm: The trade is still pending medical reviews, according to Heyman. That’s especially notable considering Puig is currently involved in a brawl in the Reds-Pirates game.

Something good with Trammel or something bad about Allen and Reyes?

Actually the Reds and Padres are each sending a minor league player to the Indians. Think it is Nova (in AZ Rookie) from SD.

I read that it is Nova going to CLE.

So upset.

On the bright side I got really scared when I saw Puigs name attached to this transaction, for a second I thought he was coming our way, thank God that is not the case

On MLB network they cited an unnamed ML team executive (not a Padre) who said it was a great deal for the Padres. He would trade a potential DH and a potential bottom of the rotation starter for a potential elite CF prospect any day.

I guess if you have a stacked farm system that just lacks impact CF (the Padres) but is loaded with pitching and a DH in the NL is not a near term option ... the value of Allen and Reyes to the Padres is not all that much and fair material to get someone who is a top 30 prospect. Really any worse off if Trammel fails? Allen can fail as a bottom of the rotation starter. I like Reyes but as a NL RF long term ... ?

Don’t love giving up Allen and Reyes but not upset given the needed upside of Trammel. Plus they did not give up Renfroe ...
