Trade ideas for 2019

Page 1 of 36Next

Is it completely out of the question that we show interest in Adam Eaton?

He’s had injury history and isn’t exactly hitting the cover off the ball but....he is a true lead off hitter with solid CF defense.

His career OBP is .361

Maybe the Nats pay some salary for a better return?

Other CF ideas?

I actually posed that as a part of a bigger trade with WAS in an effort to get Strasburg. The Nats are close to the Luxury Tax and the Lerners will not go over. Now I am not sure how the LT works, whether its dollars per year, or AAV that counts towards the yearly luxury tax. The Nats are in desperate need of bullpen help and might need a 3B IF they trade/or can not resign Rendon after this year, and they need to lower their payroll commitments.

Stras is under contract thru 2023 for $100M, but can opt out after a $25M 2020 season.

Eaton is under contract thru 2021, for $8.4M in 2019, $9.5M in 2020, and $10.5M for 2021. However 20 & 21 are both team options with a $1.5M  buyout.

Anibal Sanchez is under contract through 2021 for $25M with a weird buyout, so basically is owed at least $13M thru 2021.

My thought was that we could work some money for money, we SD takes Eaton and Sanchez monies and WAS gets Myers. And then we basically trade Jank (for defense abililty), Lauer, Maton, Baez, and Morejon for Stras and all of his contract, and then hope he doesnt opt out after 2020 because he wants to play in SD. However his agent is Boras.

A lot of moving parts to make this happen, so it would be difficult at best.

Not a chance....why are you guys so set on these stupid 5 or 6 for 1 trades......

Its not a 6 for 1. Its a 6 for 3, and turning Myers into Strasburg. Improving out OF and line up with being able to platoon Eaton and Margot, and getting us a #1 starter  in Stras.

I posted a Stras + Eaton type trade..but why not a Turner (he can play 2B/SS and CF) + Stras to SD deal...?

Morejon + Naylor + Myers + Baez + Urias + Mejia

For

Turner + Stras...

Why Nats do this.. They get 4 almost ready or ready MLB regulars to join Robles + Soto + Rendon... They also get a potential TOR in Morejon and at least an elite closer down the line in Baez...

Why Padres do this.. Turner os a top of rhe order catalyst they need..Stras is the right handed starter they lack .. Paddack/Strahm/Stras/Gore/Richards would be a WS worthy Starting 5 in 2020..

We could use Q /Lucchesi / Lauer or Allen as currency to add a LEFTY CF or 2B depending on whats available (Turner can play the other position).. and the leftover arms as insurance (Gore/Richards) ..in case the Rook or the TJ come back Richards have difficulties ... Lamet can also be in that Convo... Also if Washington preferred 2 of rhe young mlb arms vs (Morejon) then even better..

Trade 2

I also like Stroman for Q and Naylor

Rendon is probably gone after this season, and might be traded prior to the deadline. So I dont know if France would be of interest to WAS. I dont think many see Kieboom as a SS, so because of his position and salary I dont think there is anyway that WAS trades Turner. Becuase we all know how hard it is to find a SS.

And as a nit pick, IF we get Stras, he is going to be #1, not Paddock. But I do like the R-L-R-L-R of Stras, Strahm, Paddock, Gore, and Richards/Lamet.

I really want nothing to do with Stroman. I dont think he is that good, and didnt like his "where's my extension" crybaby rant earlier this spring.

Nats have enough pieces to trade without having to give up Soto,Robles or Turner.

Especially if it means trading Turner “back” to S.D.

Soto and Robles ..most likely not...But if they tear it down and rebuild it...Turner is gone.. He is turning 27 soon ..arb is coming and likely $10 mil ..then up from there.. He and Stras..can rebuild the roster in a second...by being traded ..something Rendon and Max can't do..one because of FA the other because of age..dont get me wrong they can still get shinny things..just not what Stras and\or Turner can get..

We never Traded Turner to Was.. We traded him to TBR
