Quote from BoosterSD on March 20, 2023, 11:28 amQuote from fenn68 on March 20, 2023, 10:34 amWith only 85 ML AB scattered over 2020-21-22 in a filler role … should not draw any conclusions on his bat … either project good or bad … we will see.
I understand, I know its limited at bats that I have seen. It just seems the approach at the plate is lacking something at the highest level.
Just as you are not a big Soto fan, I am not a Campusano fan at this time.
As I said, I hope that he proves me wrong.

Quote from WindsorUK on March 20, 2023, 2:29 pmIf Nola misses a lot of time( which is his m.o.), I think with Campusano getting steady AB's, we'll see the guy who was highly touted up until last year. Pulling guys in and out of the lineup NEVER works with young players.
Let Luis play!

Quote from Randy Manese on March 21, 2023, 2:37 pmIf the game is not rained out today, this looks pretty much our lineup against RHP, with the exception of Soto for Tatis in the 1st 20 games. When Tatis comes back, then Dahl drops out plus you have the Carpenter/Cruz rotation against LHP. The order might be a little different but interested to see what Bogaerts does following Manny. Hope Wacha shows well today and gets at least 4 good innings in and would like to see a nice clean game by Campusano behind the plate and not over swinging at the plate..

Quote from fenn68 on March 21, 2023, 5:37 pmMelvin said both Soto and Nola still have a chance for opening day. Soto just had an MRI but they believe the oblique strain is “mild” and Nola was on the field working out.
On the other hand (and not unexpected) Pomeranz is now feeling inflammation in his elbow and is expect to start the season on the IL.

Quote from Randy Manese on March 21, 2023, 6:42 pmWacha pulled from start. Hopefully, nothing physically wrong with him. Espinoza in but not expecting much from him.

Probably just precautionary since the weather stinks out here tonight. Cold, windy, and a chance of rain. Let him work tomorrow on a nicer day.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on March 21, 2023, 7:05 pmWacha was supposed to pitch in a B game against the Royals this afternoon. I'm not sure if that game happened or not, but he wasn't supposed to be in this one.

Quote from Randy Manese on March 21, 2023, 7:56 pmEspinoza surprisingly effective but Colorado line-up doesn't have many regular starters in it. Still believe Espinoza needs to go down to San Antonio and get stretched out after not pitching much in the last few years. Only 1 walk in 4 innings, so that was a good sign.

Quote from fenn68 on March 21, 2023, 8:16 pmJust when I think Espinosa is a goner … he goes out and hurls 4 innings of 1 hit / 1 walk … 5 K baseball. ST can be a head scratcher.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on March 21, 2023, 10:38 pmI just went and looked at old top prospect lists. Back in 2017 MLB.com had Espinoza at 25 and Honeywell at 31. Both guys have just been wrecked by injuries. It would be a great story if either of them could stay healthy and find success. Looking at those old lists is a trip. Josh Bell was 27th, Hader was 38th, Mejia was 40th, Groome was 41st, Renfroe was 42nd, Mateo was 47th, Alfaro was 72nd and Quantrill was 97th. That's a lot of guys with ties to the Padres.
