Prospect Watch: Albuquerque pounded El Paso with an eight-run second inning Tuesday night. … Organizational newcomer Dustin Harris had three hits, including his first homer as a member of the Padres’ organization. The 27-year-old is hitting .310/.397/.477 in 10 games since signing as a minor league free agent. The left-handed hitting outfielder has spent most of the last three years at Triple-A with 89 big league at-bats scattered in since 2024. … Bryce Johnson had two hits, including a double. He also scored a pair of runs. The former Padre started the season on the big league roster but was designated for assignment on June 12. Ultimately, Johnson cleared waivers and was outrighted to El Paso. After a rough start, Johnson is slashing .293/.406/.397 this month. … Romeo Sanabria connected on his first homer since joining the El Paso roster in the loss. The first baseman has shown excellent discipline in a small sample with the Chihuahuas. His whiff rate is in the 88th percentile, and his zone contact numbers are in the 84th percentile. Despite the good discipline, Sanabria’s loud contact has not been frequent, and he’s managed a paltry .535 OPS with El Paso. The first baseman will need to make louder contact in order to have a chance at the next level. … Jackson Wolf turned in a brutal start, lasting just 1.2 innings. The soft-tossing southpaw allowed eight runs (all earned) on seven hits. He walked two and struck out three. Wolf has put together some solid outings this season, but the lack of velocity (88-90 mph) on his fastball can render him too hittable at times. Opposing hitters are batting .299 against him, and Tuesday’s start increased his ERA to 6.54.

Prospect Watch: The Missions rallied to take the lead in the ninth inning, only to see the Sod Poodles score three times in the bottom of the ninth to steal the victory at Hodgetown. … Ethan Salas singled, drew a walk, and also threw out a runner trying to steal second base. After the game, he was promoted to Triple-A, as first reported by Chase Ford of MILB Central. The 20-year-old catcher hasn’t homered in 33 games, but despite the homer drought, he’s still been mighty productive. The Padres’ top prospect has hit .321/.413/.377 in July, giving the organization confidence he is ready for the challenge of Triple-A. He finishes his stint in the Texas League .285/.359/.418 with a stellar 15.9% strikeout rate, an impressive bounce-back after after missing almost all of last year with a back injury. … For a short period of time, it appeared that Francisco Acuña had the hit of the game. The Missions’ shortstop connected on a two-out, three-run homer in the ninth inning that briefly gave San Antonio a 4-3 lead. Acuña has a .670 OPS in his second season with the Missions. … Jake Cunningham had a pair of singles and scored a run. The 24-year-old has been productive since joining the Missions after dominating the Midwest League in the first half. Including his two hits Tuesday, Cunningham has an excellent .298/.342/.471 slash-line since joining the Missions. There are still some concerns under the hood because he’s walked in just six percent of his plate appearances in San Antonio while striking out 28% of the time. Still, the organization has to be ecstatic about the production they’ve received from the former Orioles prospect. … Jamie Hitt earned a quality start for his effort Tuesday, getting through six innings of three-run ball, but the former Oklahoma southpaw was far from dominant. Hitt allowed nine hits – including three for extra bases. He walked one and struck out just two before departing. In three appearances (two starts) with the Missions, Hitt has a 7.62 ERA for the Missions.

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps got a pair of homers and defeated the Loons in Michigan. … Alex McCoy had a pair of hits, including a two-run homer in the first inning. It was McCoy’s 13th homer of the season and his first since June 21 against South Bend. McCoy has struck out in 33% of his plate appearances in July – 10 points higher than the K-rate he produced in April through June. Overall, McCoy has an .810 OPS this season. … Miguel Mendez made a rehab start for the TInCaps and pitched a scoreless inning, striking out one while throwing just 10 pitches. The 24-year-old has been on the shelf with a shoulder issue since early June. Mendez tossed a career-high 95 innings last season, but thanks to two separate stints on the injured list, he’s thrown just 35.2 innings in 2026. The righty will try to get built up; however, with a bit more than one month left in the minor league season, it’s questionable whether he will be fully stretched out by then. … Kannon Kemp took over for Mendez and pitched five strong innings to earn the win. The Texas-born Kemp scattered six hits, allowing two runs on Tuesday. He struck out three and did not issue a walk. It was the first time since last August that Kemp completed five or more innings after he spent the first two months of this season on the IL. The solid outing lowered his Fort Wayne ERA to 5.56. … Will Koger pitched a scoreless inning in the ninth to earn his first save as a TinCap. The former ASU reliever walked one and struck out one. Koger has had five consecutive scoreless outings after a poor game against West Michigan on July 8. The scoreless inning of work lowered his ERA to 2.92.
Roster Moves: In addition to Mendez, lefty Luis Gutierrez joined the TinCaps to continue his rehab assignment in the Summit City. Because he does not count against the club’s 165 domestic player limit as long as he remains on the 60-day IL, he likely will stay in Fort Wayne to build up for several more weeks. Conversely, Kavares Tears was placed on the seven-day injured list with a shoulder injury.

Prospect Watch: The Storm rode a couple of homers and an unbelievable outing from Jesus Castro to win their series opener in Stockton. Castro tossed a career-high seven innings, allowing just one hit. Castro did not issue a walk, but did hit a batter. He breezed through the Stockton order, needing just 79 pitches to complete seven innings even as he struck out seven. The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakout season for the Storm in 2026. The Mexican-born righty lowered his ERA to 3.31, and he will finish July with a 2.65 ERA, including 12 consecutive scoreless innings. … Catcher Ty Harvey connected on his first Single-A homer in the victory. The 19-year-old knocked out the first professional homers of his career during his rehab assignment at the complex last week. In a limited 18-game sample with the Storm, Harvey has a .862 OPS. … Qrey Lott continued his scorching July with three more hits, including a double. He also swiped his 16th bag of the season in the win. Lott, 21, is hitting .358/.514/.491 with seven doubles. Lott has also been hit by a pitch a staggering 10 times this month. Overall, Lott has an .834 OPS for the Storm this season. … Jorge Quintana produced an OPS over 1.000 last week and he connected on his fifth homer of the year in the win. The 19-year-old shortstop has three of his five homers in July, while hitting .269/.402/.522 with nine steals this month.
