Prospect Watch: El Paso put up a nine spot in the third inning to cruise to a win and snap a four-game losing streak. … Jeremiah Estrada trotted out of the El Paso bullpen with a runner on second and two outs. He issued a five-pitch walk before getting a strikeout to end the sixth inning. The right-hander’s four-seamer topped out at 95.8 mph, about 0.4 mph slower than his year average. The offering also averaged 20 inches of induced vertical break. The righty, rehabbing from a knee injury, didn’t come back out of the seventh after throwing 10 pitches. … Blake Hunt collected two long balls in El Paso’s series finale against Las Vegas as part of his 3-for-4 day at the dish. Both of Hunt’s long balls were Las Vegas specials. His homer in the top of the second left his bat at just 92.1 mph, while his two-run shot in the third had a bit more juice, logging an exit velocity of 98 mph. Hunt’s batted ball data with El Paso if fine, but not spectacular. He owns a 6.2% barrel rate, 102.7 mph 90th percentile exit velocity, and 38.5% hard hit rate – which all sit between the 48th and 60th percentiles among Triple-A batters. … Serving as the DH, Romeo Sanabria went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks in Sunday’s win. While he reached base three times against Las Vegas, it’s been a tough start for the 23-year-old since landing in El Paso. He’s hitting just .184 with a .477 OPS and .277 xwOBA. If you’re looking for a positive, his 89.6% in-zone contact rate ranks in the 89th percentile of Triple-A hitters, and his 110.6 Max EV is in the 72nd percentile. … Nick Solak went 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs while hitting out of the three-hole. During the month of July he’s running a 35.8% hard hit rate, 5.7% barrel rate and owns a 88.9% in zone contact rate

Prospect Watch: Jake Cunningham turned in a 1-for-4 night, but the lone hit was a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the third that locked up a victory for the Missions. Yes, strikeouts and swing and miss remain a concern for Cunningham, as he’s still punching at a higher than a 30% clip, but his damage numbers remain strong at Double-A. The 25-year-old has posted a .175 isolated power and .465 slugging percentage since joining the Missions. … While he didn’t log a hit, Ethan Salas reached base twice on a pair of walks and scored a run. After a very slow month of June, the 20-year-old has looked better in July, hitting .320 with a .407 OBP in 15 games played. Salas hasn’t homered since May 26; but the batted ball data remains strong with a 42% hard hit rate and 106.2 mph 90th percentile exit velocity this season. … Eric Yost provided the Missions with six shutout innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out five to earn his fifth win of the year. Yost’s arsenal generated a 20.8% whiff rate (10 whiffs on 48 total swings). Over his past eight starts with the Missions, he owns a 3.13 ERA with opposing hitters batting just .200 against him. Command has been an overarching issue, though, as his walk rate continues to hover north of 15% in that same time frame. … Tucker Musgrove delivered a strong inning of relief, striking out one in a perfect eighth inning. The right-hander’s four-seamer topped out at 97 mph, while his five-pitch mix collected a 50% whiff rate. Since his promotion to Double-A, he owns a 3.72 ERA and a rather absurd 40.9% strikeout rate, though his walk rate remains north of 20%.

TinCaps 7, Lake County Captains 5

Prospect Watch: Fort Wayne fell behind as they gave up five runs in the third, but the pitching then locked in and the offense rallied, capped by a two-run game-winning homer by Zach Evans in the eighth to claim a season win. José Leclerc made his third rehab appearance of the week with Fort Wayne, working a perfect first inning and striking out one. The right-hander’s fastball topped out at 94 mph as his arsenal generate two whiffs on six swings. … Justin DeCriscio continues to impress as he went 1-for-4 and blasted his ninth long ball with the TinCaps, and 12th overall on the season. The 2025 10th-round pick sports an .830 OPS at High-A and is slashing .333/.404/.538 with a .416 wOBA this month. Along with the production, the 23-year-old sports some solid under-the-hood data, including an 89.5% in-zone contact rate and an 18.4% whiff rate. He’s done an exceptional job of putting the ball in the air to the pull side at a 22.4% rate. … Ryan Wideman collected his fifth straight multi-hit game to close out the series, going 3-for-4 with three singles. He took advantage of being on base, swiping three more bases and scoring three runs. The 22-year-old’s batting average now sits at .320 with Fort Wayne. While he’s racking up hits, he’s shown little power. In 100 at-bats with the TinCaps, he has just two extra-base hits and .021 isolated power. Since his promotion he has also only walked at a  6.4% rate. … Alex McCoy remained cold at the dish for Fort Wayne, going 0-for-3 with a walk and run scored in Sunday’s loss. Dating back to June 1, he owns just a .640 OPS and 35% whiff rate.

Prospect Watch: After struggling mightily since moving from the ACL to Single-A, Luis Maracara turned in the best start of his stateside career, throwing five innings and allowing just one run on one hit, walking two and striking out five. The right-hander induced a 40% whiff rate with his fastball sitting in the low-90s. The 18-year-old has now walked two or more in all four of his starts with Lake Elsinore. … Sean Barnett worked the final 1.2 innings of Sunday’s victory, blanking Visalia on a hit and a walk while striking out two. The right-hander’s four-seamer topped out at 98 mph as Musgrove racked up five whiffs (41.6% whiff rate). While the stuff still flashes plenty, and he owns a 2.63 ERA and strikeout rate north of 29% since May 14th, command remains an overarching concern. The one-time outfielder now sports a 17.6% walk rate in that same time frame… Truitt Madonna slugged his second homer of the year for Lake Elsinore in the bottom of the fifth to give the Storm their margin of victory. It was Madonna’s second hit since coming back to Lake Elsinore after spending a brief time back down in the complex league. In 73 games with the Storm this season, the Washington State native is slashing .211/.337/.341…Ty Harvey reached bases twice on Sunday, going 0-for-2 with a pair of walks. While his batted ball data is the headliner of his profile, the 19-year-old backstop has shown strong plate discipline skills, owning a 20.1% BB% and 22.6% chase rate in his first year in Lake Elsinore.
