I know  this sounds crazy but I still want Bochy. He has a dumpster  fire  of a roster but has them playing pretty good. I know his reputation is he likes vets but I think the younger players might rejuvenate him, he is still one of the best out there if SF doesn't resign him.

.

Does Bochy even want to manage anymore ... given age and health. If he did, probably SF would still want him.

As for Madden, have to ask why the Cubs seem focused on letting him go with the club in 1st place and after leading them to the World Series. Seems he has lost his "charm" with the players and his style has worn thin plus probably never fit in with the front office. Combine his age and success and a good chance he is a problem to work with ... especially the younger front offices (and they do the hiring / firing). Plus what might be fun initially for the players gets to be old, tired quickly ... again from a "old guy" to young players. Note I say this as an "old guy".

IF they move from Green (and I don't expect they will near term) needs to be a younger manager that can relate better and be accepted better by the very young Padre roster. Just let the old fossil managers bask in their past success and focus on the future. A new generation of players, a new generation of analytics, a new generation of front office people demand a new generation manager (if they really need a manager beyond someone to keep the clubhouse "happy").

You would wonder if Rod Barajas would be a good option. He is a former catcher(usually good managers), had a lot of the players in El Paso, and is spanish speaking which is nice for the latin players on the team.

He has been my odds on favorite as next in line for some time. The organization seemed to really love his managerial skills in the minors ... both handling players and strategically. Would guess he is a good fit with the front office and that working relationship is important.

Phil Nevin?

Phil Nevin?

The problem I have with Phil Nevin is that he never stopped whining about the Petco Park dimensions when it first opened, he had a point I get that, but to whine about it all the time? , I just think of him as kind of a trouble maker

Hoping Lauer pitches the game of his life today.

Has to be hard for him.

We’re blowing this game.

4 hits in the 1st and only 1 run scored......and on a sac fly.

Now we run ourselves out of scoring at all(tying run at that) in the 4th.

These guys don’t seem to have their heads in the game lately.

Or simply a bad stretch

What

is

going

on

?

The defense has been down right embarrassing.

I don't get to see many Padre games but watching todays game is very frustrating. Lots of hits and baserunners for a change but very sloppy defense. I love him but Tatis has to slow down and get 1 out in that situation. Hosmer really should have caught the throw from Mejias.
