BA RISP:

Renfroe  .186

Reyes .167

Late and Close doesn’t match up with the topic at hand.........runners in scoring position.

If you're talking clutch and wins. That's a pretty significant factor. Just because Reyes is bad at literally everything to do with winning doesn't mean they are the same.

Hello Girardi, this is AJ Preller. Whacha doing next season? Do you like the beach and great weather?

I think AJ Ellis is your likely replacement if Green is let go. He is a special advisor to AJP if I recall correctly.

Not trying to pick a fight with you, legit question. What do you want Greene to change about the way he manages?

Green would a better manager if he had better players ... or at last a more complete roster.

Totally just a legit question. Thats what we are here for, right? I dont think he is overly great with bull pen moves. Naylor in RF is dumb as he is barely able to handle LF. If you have Naylor and Renfroe in the same line up, Renfroe needs to be in RF. And I dont know if he is a good guy for getting the best out of guys, cant seem to get players to change their ways or take the next step. Its not all on the manager for sure. AJP supplies the players, there are hitting coaches, and fielding coaches, and what not. But he is at the top of the coaching tree, and the buck stops with him. I dont think he is as bad as others here on the site, but I also dont think he has the ability to take the team to the next step.

We were just talking about why we had so many solo homeruns.

I was suggesting we needed more guys on base....Fenn pointed out that these guys aren’t hitting when guys “are” on base.

Which appears to definitely be true.

Hitting well late and in close games doesn’t have anything to do with hitting with RISP.

Both apparently  are hitting well late and In close games.....but unfortunately it seems only with the bases empty.

Many times, power comes in 3 stages. And there is a transition period from one to the other.

1 - Power in the MiL.

2 - Power in the ML.

3 - Power in the ML when runners are on base.

I think we are seeing Renfroe and Reyes transition from 2 to 3. They are finally getting the power going. Now they need to get better at doing that when runners are on. Of course, SD is still in the last 3 in the NL for OBP, so Renfroe and Reyes dont get as many chances as some other players do on better OBP type teams. I think its coming for both.

If I am going to criticize, then I also need to compliment. Nice job of changing out Reyes for Myers and realinging the OF defense.

Yeah, I am kind of the same as you.  He is not completely clueless.  I think he does have a pretty good head on his shoulders despite the occasion "odd" move like Naylor the other day.  I am concerned like you that he may not be able to take the team to the next level; not sure he inspires respect and confidence from his team (we know Myers doesn't like him, but some would argue that's in Greene's favor).

I also think he does not stand up for his team enough.  Remember when Rizzo blew up Hedges and Greene (?) allegedly told Chacin not to hit him the next day?  Time and again with this kind of stuff.

What Fenn said re the quality of the players/roster definitely factors in.  They are better this year because the players are better, not because of anything Greene is doing.

Joe Madden maybe?

This team doesn't look like a team who wants anything to do with the Playoffs.

Losing 5 of 6 after the break is not the sign of a team on the rise.

Could just be a bad stretch and of course there's "plenty of time".....but not a good look and could

end up costing us the ability to add to the team and maybe even our closer.

I know  this sounds crazy but I still want Bochy. He has a dumpster  fire  of a roster but has them playing pretty good. I know his reputation is he likes vets but I think the younger players might rejuvenate him, he is still one of the best out there if SF doesn't resign him.
