Margot appears to be starting to come around but I don't think he will ever be the .375 OBP leadoff hitter we need in CF to hit in front of

FTJ.

I still think we need to trade Yates to Atl. in a deal for Inciarte.

He's only 28 and a Gold Glove fielder who had 500+ AB's four years in a row with an average OBP above .340

Esp if we can somehow include Myers OR find a way to get one of their young Starters.

Atl has a full OF and two of their top  prospects are also outfielders.

Unless there's a way to get Pache or Waters..........?

... sez that Padres are 26-19 vs teams above .500!

So ... why are we losing to bad teams?

Another year and another All Star slap in the face for San Diego.

It's bad enough Tatis was snubbed...and maybe Machado...then there's the HR Derby.

But once again our sole representative didn't even make an appearance.

I realize that may have been at the request of the Padres....to let him rest, but we shouldn't be in

a situation like that in the first place.

It's gotten to the point I'm numb to the disrespect we endure.....well,almost numb to it.

Probably the same question the teams over .500 are asking about their losses to the Padres.

Margot OPS .838 since June 1st... maybe he just needs regular playing time

Certainly a case for giving him a longer leash .... and after the break pairing him in CF with Jankowski gives top shelf defense in CF and allows the Padres to match up each players strength offensively with the opposing pitcher (not necessarily just LH/RH although Jankowski does not hit LHP at all).

Major benefit is that it keeps Myers out of CF.

I agree with most of this and am definitely disappointed not to see Yates in the All-Star game, however, I don't think Kirby playing was disrespectful, I actually think the opposite was true.  He was set to pitch the 9th inning if the NL had the lead, as they were saving their best relief option to close out the game.

I'm looking forward to this platoon in CF.

Especially if Margot really has turned some kind of corner.

We need to see how good these two can be sharing CF duties.

It looks like we need to realize we can't depend on Franchy going forward.

He could certainly come back and contribute but at this point we need to consider his return

a luxury to take advantage of "if" it ever happens.

Agree the platoon seems the option for now.

On the Inciarte play ... I go back and forth on that one (was once a big fan) but in 2018 his production dropped to 265/325/380 and in 2019 218/300/323 (some of which is likely to the current DL stint ... lumbar strain ... but that is  concern in and of itself). Then layer in his contract $7.7MM (2020), $8.7MM (2021), plus a 2022 buyout at $1.02MM. Costly gamble on a guy who slumped in 2018 / injured in 2019.

Saw in Mark Bowman's bit on the Atlanta website his comment that at this point Inciarte would be just a throw-in in a deal ... he has been covering the Braves since 2001 so should have a pretty good sense of how most view Inciarte today.

I am guessing the Padres could get him if they took his contract and gave the Stammen but just not sure his contract fits the Padres ... may "hurt" roster construction for next season eating up too much space for too little production over the low cost Margot / Jankowski. IF he returned to his former self ... different story but maybe that idea is not based in probability.

Looks like we will be able to watch tonight's game on mlb.com (all games free today).
