Quote from JasonE135 on September 3, 2019, 11:58 pmBolanos looked very good. Another very promising starter for our rotation. In a year or two our pitching staff will be dominant. Unfortunately, our offense is starting to look like it has more holes than expected. We really need Urias to become the 70 hitter he has always been sold as. You know, someone who can get a hit off of just about anyone, because we are gone getting shut out by far too many weak pitchers.

Quote from WindsorUK on September 4, 2019, 1:09 pmI’m going to put it out there that Urias just isn’t good enough.
He’s more Carlos Asuaje than Roberto Alomar.
He has shown ZERO ability to hit an MLB fastball, which is one thing most MLB hitters can do( most struggle on off speed). I’ve mentioned in an earlier thread that he has WAY too much movement in his stance before the ball gets to the plate ( his head moved a good foot, foot and a half while the pitcher is in motion. He has no chance of tracking any pitches let alone one traveling 90+ )
Unless the Pads can find someone in the off season to totally remake his stance while he’s in the box, I’m afraid the kids going to be old news really fast.
Hell, I hope I’m wrong! I’d love to see him produce like he has in the minors. Just not going to hold my breath.
I am however looking forward to Edwards and Abrams ascent up the ranks. Who knows, in 3 years they might be our double play combination, Tatis Jr. manning CF.

Quote from JasonE135 on September 4, 2019, 3:23 pmAbrams will be our centerfielder. Edwards likely 2b. Abrams isn't smooth enough for infield, but he could be a great centerfielder. Edwards has a 50 arm, Tatis a 70. Plus he has already proven himself. Urias has always been able to hit. From what I have seen, he has exceptionally little movement in his setup and swing. At least before he added the knee lift, which he did to add power. I don't get it. He will never be a power hitter, but he messes up his whole approach just to add a little bit. He needs to go back to the way he was. Get on base, let someone else drive him in. He can hit. He just needs to get comfortable at the major league level and do what he does best.

Quote from Commie on September 4, 2019, 4:40 pmI wouldn't sleep on Arias and E Rosario or even Miller for 2B if Urias flops. I think it is between the ears with him. I see the ridiculous hitting mechanics you all see too, but the bat itself is not slow.

Quote from JasonE135 on September 4, 2019, 5:43 pmThe bat is pretty fast and the hitting mechanics are not bad at all. I don't know why everyone is so ready to move on from him. Give him regular at-bats and he will hit. Give him 2b in 2020 and let him have the full season to either earn it of fail. The kid is a natural hitter. The Padres desperately need somebody who can regularly get on base. That is his forte. Give him a chance.

Quote from WindsorUK on September 5, 2019, 3:06 amOutside of Machado at 3rd, hitting 3rd and Hosmer at 1st, hitting 4th, our lineup has been a hodge podge of mish mash all year. Whilst I understand trying young guys up and down the lineup to see where they fit in, AG's lineups are headspinners.
Hopefully the team has seen enough of whomever they're considering for next year's first 8 to create a more cohesive offensive threat. It's gotta be tough as a hitter moving up and down the order daily to figure out what the club wants from you? In the 2 hole, I'm looking at pitches, working the count, moving my leadoff guy over a base or two, allowing my 3/4 hitters to see as many pitches as possible. In the 8 hole, I'm hacking just to get on to get the pitcher up this inning, not leading off the next. Totally different dynamic. Can't be easy .

Not sure if I am or if I’ll have wifi if I stay or go....so if you don’t hear from me for a few days that’s why.
If you never hear from me again......well....that would be something different.
Go Padres!
Spared once again....living in the SE corner of Ga where the continent turns outward spares us most of the time.
It's not a coincidence that the country is shaped the way it is.
Millions of years of these storms coming westward and then turning north has made it this way.
But.....every once in awhile a high pressure front coming south keeps it going westward and it hits us.
So....once again a storm caused a severe case of premature evacuation in my neck of the woods.:)
