RE Myers, I put a lot of the blame on Green to be honest with you. We can all look at stats that pretty much prove where he should both bat and play defense. But we get the standard, he's athletic enough to play multiple roles. Learn your guys AG, he might have the physical tools, but is obviously short of the 6th tool, the brain. He apparently can not handle being jacked around the field and up and down in the line up. Watch SD eat 75% of his salary to trade him, and he becomes that $20M player that many here think he can be, because he doesnt get messed with all season.

No interesting response. Because I agree 100% with the caveat that this wasn't AG alone.

I agree, it's not totally on AG, but the buck has to stop somewhere. Someone, somewhere, sometime in the entire stinking Padre organization had to say at some point. Hey look at the stats that Myers produces when he bats 2nd and plays LF. Apparently no one in the SD management team has access to baseball reference web page.

I know I am saying this late, but did anyone else besides me think it was a bad idea to send Wingenter out for the start of the 2nd inning. He seems like a one inning guy to me, kind of that max effort guy.

I do not understand why Margevicious didn't start that game.

I'm with Commie on this one.

Nick is a starter, Wingenter is not.

Wingenter needs to figure out if he wants to pitch in the big leagues, long term. He just seems to go in and chuck it. Not really a recipe for success if you're not throwing it 100+.

I'm noticing ALL our young guns are failing the same way Perdomo did/does, in that the 3rd time through the lineup seems to be their undoing. This is a systemic problem - our organisation DOES NOT want our starters going past 6 innings/100 pitches. And we can all see the result of this ....... extremely naive?........ approach. Starters should be your best pitchers. You should want them out there for ALL 27 outs. Seeing as that is highly unlikely on a start by start basis, they need to be trained to go as deep as they can EVERY TIME OUT.  And that preparation starts in the minors. We should hear of guys going 6,7, sometimes even 8, every time out. Big league clubs shouldn't give a s**t about minor league records. Only thing that should matter is getting these young ball players ready for the show.

The idea of Wingenter starting the game is a practice put in place by a few teams this year, and last year as well, such as the NYY and especially the Rays. The premise is, a good reliever gets the "toughest" three guys out in the line up, the 1,2,3 hitters. Then; especially the Rays, turn it over to what they call the bulk guy, and he goes as deep as he can, hopefully with the lead to the 6th or 7th inning. Then, you turn to a more standard bullpen session.

So if AG was smart, he would have sent Wingenter out for the first inning( he has not pitched well into two innings this season) and then could have brought Margevicious for 2-6 at that time. Then having a lead at that time, could have gone, Perdomo or Stammen, Munoz, and then Yates. BOOM, take 2 of 3 from LA.

As far as the starting pitcher going through the line up for a 3rd time, it is not just the Padres having that issue, it is most of MLB. And you are right, they are not letting these kids work through/figure it out in the MiLs. Too much of a rush to get them up because the arm is big, instead of making them learn how to pitch.

Is Will Myers REALLY in CF today?????

I realize they want him in there but does anyone outside of Andy Green and whoever is pulling his strings believe that Will has any business being  there?

Not sure who the hell Martini is but he'd be more of an option in CF before Myers.

I thought we were rotating Margot, Renfroe, Myers, Naylor in the OF? Myers will NEVER get untracked if AG keeps moving him around so much. As for Margot and Naylor, play them to build up their trade value. I'm keeping Renfroe - solid defender who can hit 30+ fingers. Yeah, he's not great with the OBP but he has taken more walks lately. He's learning.

And Pads go out and get 2 in the first......and Lauer gives it right back. That's all mental. He needs to bear down and just REFUSE to allow that to happen. Some of our young guys, I believe, get a bit relaxed when they get a cushion. Hell, back in the day, guys like Drysdale and Gibson would get even NASTIER with a bigger cushion.

Time for our young guns go get NASTY.....not sure that'll happen under AG.

As for Naylor, his body type is more young John Kruk than young Tony Gwynn( T was quite fit when he first arrived. Stole over 50 one year!)

Does ANYONE believe this kid can shed 15-20 lbs. ? From his midsection alone he can lose a bulk of that!

I really like his approach at the plate and believe he's certainly someone that SHOULD be a good MLB hitter for a number of years. I'd love to see the club fit him in ANYWHERE where he won't be a defensive liability. I'm afraid that spot would be first.

So, either Josh drops 20 or we trade Hosmer........yeah, goodbye Naylor.

Have our 2 run cushion back in the 6th. Lauer is in the hole. He's got 91 pitches under his belt. Does Green leave him in to hit, if his spot comes up? Does he give Eric the opportunity to learn to get through a lineup a third time, by going over 100 pitches, into the 6th inning? Great learning op for the kid. Don't blow it AG!
