Shame it didn't work out too well.
Who is this Webb guy? Where did he come from?

Quote from dvmin98 on May 28, 2018, 11:38 amMcGrath DFA'd for Hughes. A bit surprised by that one. Was thinking more in the lines of Brewer, or maybe even Guerra (though figured it was a long shot).

Quote from dvmin98 on June 6, 2018, 6:07 amTime to say night night to Mitchell. I think he's officially done. If anything, get him through waivers and send him to El Paso and let him work on things. He truly is a bust.

He's so damn frustrating. His stuff is absolutely major league caliber. Great fastball, solid breaking pitch... but man, he cannot locate anything. At all. And he doesn't appear coachable. I almost feel like the Padres are letting Mitchell completely torch himself in the hopes that his terrible numbers will allow them to sneak him through waivers.

I think that is going to be part of the problem this season, as the casual fan will see the standings and say, maybe we are not that bad and should make a trade for this season and go for it. If you look at the expanded standings we are .500 against the NL East and NL Central. 6 games under .500 in the NL West and the AL. So some will say we are better than we are, because they wont look at the fact that we took care of the Reds and Marlins types, but still dont fare better against the Nats and Cards types that are playoff contenders.
But I can see the point, that our W/L is probably better than we thought it would be, and where would it be if we had some better SP? Not Archer though as he would cost too much. If they keep playing the way they are though, it will make trading off some veteran pieces difficult for the casual fan.

Quote from MrPadre19 on June 7, 2018, 2:10 pmYou're right about the casual fan not understanding.
This team will fade and fade hard soon.....I think we all understand that.
I just hate the fact that we will probably have a long bad summer but still end up drafting in the teens next year.
Although it is good to know that there are at least 7-8 worse teams right now.
It gives us hope for once the pitching arrives I think.
