I'm thinking a platoon of Renfroe and Franchy could be solid.

I don't think you can limit Renfroe to "only" LH starters but those two in some sort of platoon makes

too much sense IMO.

Cordero platooning with Reyes does make more sense.

At least at this early point Reyes's career his splits are pretty drastic.

Was not a fan of Renfroe BUT the shift to LF seems to make him look better defensively (no idea why) and more importantly the opening up of his stance has made him equally effective against LHP (.792 OPS) and RHP (.820 OPS) ... both above average numbers and those are actually up due to a strong August OPS of .950 (97 AB). Maybe let Renfroe - Margot - Reyes - Jankowski get the ABs in the ML to start 2019 and then let one of them eliminate themselves. Meanwhile Cordero is getting the ABs and is the #1 OF call-up.

Side thought: after the back up catcher there are only 3 bench slots if you give 1 OF slot to Jankowski and 1 INF slot to someone (Spangenberg has the versatility for 2B/3B/OF) there is only one strategic slot open and that may be better served with an INF reserve considering both Spangy and Myers could go to the OF if needed.

I agree. Renfroe is improving before our eyes. He's looking much better at the plate vs. RHPs. Not swinging at the low and away slider so much that he did in previous seasons. I'm excited about Renfroe now because he's definitely learning to be a better hitter.  How far can he go?!

Add Lauers 5 inn 0 ERs  and the last 3 games are even better, Can Kennedy keep it going ?

That's a good point about not really needing a 5th outfielder due to Myers and Spangy/Pirela.

What I worry about is that adding Urias and Mejia isn't that much of an increase in offense to be enough for us to be competitive.

I'm not expecting playoffs or anything of course but would certainly like to see some major improvements in the wins category

at least "starting" with next season.

If Tatis starts fast next season how soon would we expect him to be in S.D.?

Does anyone think he starts the year with the big league club?

Always a chance but almost every report suggests at least 60-90 days in AAA before a call-up given he has yet to hit above AA. (note with a talent like Tatis that locks in that "extra year" and may avoid the Super II).

Given 2019 is still a transition year (unless something amazing happens) .... really don't like to take two 23 year old prospects who are still in the development phase and platoon them taking away ABs .... especially on the weak side where they need the most work. I, for now give the edge to Reyes given his late season run ... Cordero had some real swing and miss still going for him that needs work. Would not be surprised to see Cordero in CF primarily in AAA to start (his defense needs some work too) and ultimately bump Jankowski if Renfroe / Reyes are producing. Cordero certainly has the potential for being a major offensive upgrade over Jankowski while playing 4th OF for all the slots.

As for Reyes, he was not on my "real prospect" radar. However, sometimes hard to assess development in those "big guys". What intrigues (and impresses) me is his controlled approach at the plate compared to most of the other big power hitters. A lot less swinging from the heels ... seems to target up the middle ... think his launch angle is less than league average but being very strong still delivers the distance. That is a pretty good base to work with.

All should be clearer by July 1.
