Freddy Galvis is the best baseball player on this team.

Which helps explain why we are once again so bad.

I just read that Gore is going to get a start this week against the Brewers.....Anybody else see this ?

Heard it was Kennedy but came here to find out for sure. Doesn't sound smart to start Gore.

Why would AJP bring up Gore and have to protect him on the 40-man roster a year (or two) before he has to?  Gore has been pitching much better, but he has been pitching at the low-A ball level.  I think it will be Kennedy or Nix on Tuesday.  Disappointing, that we got nothing in return for Ross or Lyles.  I can understand letting Ross go as he was a free agent to be, however, I liked the way Lyles developed as a reliever this year and thought he was a useful piece to keep in the pen next year, and could even be a spot starter if necessary.  Go Pads!

Felt the same way about Lyles. Little disappointed. Excited to see a prospect get a chance though.

Madfriars tweet right on this page says Brett Kennedy.

Did the Padres get anything for Tyson Ross, or just save some money?

I don’t think the money had anything to do with it.It was done to open up a spot for Kennedy and whoever they want to see for the next couple months.

Definitely this. We should have some interesting debuts to watch these last few months.

Acee (I think) suggested that the Padres may move to a 6 man rotation when Nix is promoted for this weekend ... makes sense given the long run of games without off days .... summer heat ... and (except for Richard) "young" arms that they probably are trying to control innings in 2018.

Richard - Lucchesi - Kennedy - Nix - Lockett - Erlin potentially for now the maybe mix back in Lauer when ready (the weak link to the pen or optioned until Sept 1). If all are doing well ... maybe the stretch Lauer's DL stint and run that into a rehab until Sept 1.

All that suggests a RP is in jeopardy when they add Nix ... some have minor league options BUT this may be the time to just release Hughes ... of course there can be a surprise DL for someone. Hughes just is not getting any work and had not been good when he does ... maybe just bite the bullet on the about $8MM owed him by the Padres next year (MINN is paying down from the $13MM salary).
