Potential frontline SP trade

I get that.....”if” we get that guy.

As I said if we could get Paxton without giving up Paddack/Gore it would make sense.

Im gonna assume the M’s wanted too much from the Padres and ‘settled’ for the deal they got from NYY.

NYY are contenders next 2 years, Pads only 1 of those 2 at best... sure that affected what Preller was willing to offer.

It's interesting that a lot of Seattle fans think the return was too low!

Did forget about Nix .... maybe because he look (to me) so bad in his brief ML time. Long shot in the Diaz, Perdomo classification.

Everyone is going to point to the near complete game Nix threw... I saw a lot of that game, and the hitters were being so aggressive Nix had a lot of <10 pitch innings... in fact he had NO K's in that game, which is his overriding issue:  he just hasn't figured out a way to miss bats even in the minors.  It's fair to say that he & Brett Kennedy need some work at AAA, but I've just always felt like Nix is overrated; his results just haven't equaled his stuff yet.

Mets “Seriously Considering” Noah Syndergaard Trade Scenarios

The Mets are “seriously considering” trade scenarios for high-end righty Noah Syndergaard, according to Jon Heyman of Fancred (via Twitter). Per the report, at least six rival organizations are “real players” for the high-octane starter.

This is certainly an interesting development. There have been whispers of a possible deal involving Syndergaard, but the seriousness of the Mets’ intentions have remained in doubt. Now, it seems there’s reason at least for other organizations to dedicate resources to exploring deals.

Importantly, Heyman notes that the key for the Mets in any potential deal would be to “fill multiple holes with real impact.” That suggests that new GM Van Wagenen will not be looking for lower-level prospects.

The plot thickens!  Anyone have guesses who the other 5 teams may be?  Can start by looking at MLB.com Top 50 whom this deal has to include at least one of.  Braves look obvious.  Maybe Astros?  I am assuming that "lower level prospects" above means literally level in Minors, not 'level of quality' (obvious).  As it pertains to Pads; theoretically decreases value of Mackenzie Gore to Mets vs other closer to MLB guys... a good thing....

...  the "bad" is that with a speculated trade of Myers for Segura, would the Pads actually consider including Tatis if they did get Segura first?   I don't think they should do that, but I can't imagine another team beating an offer of Tatis, Mejia, & a MLB or top 100 prospect Pitcher.

This wait until something does or doesn't happen is going to be agonizing.  Chances increasing of a Preller moment i.e. multiple big moves in a 24-48 hour period...

I would guess that beyond SD, other teams making serious bids for Syndergaard are LAD, MILW, ATL, NYY, CWS ... maybe HOUSTON ... but although they all have talent to move not sure of match-up if NYM want immediate impact.

Where SD may have the advantage is they can offer up either Hedges or Mejia ... big need for the NYM and the other bidders really can't offer much there. Mets apparently are interested in C, 2B, CF, RP that impact NOW and that is a big point if the other team is a contender who would diminish their current abilities to add Syndergaard ... not sure the plus / minus works for all. Expect all those other teams are pushing prospects not core ML players.

SD could offer Mejia / Hedges (I really don't care which) and Margot as the core of the deal and then negotiate around the RP (OK with Yates). (Padres are NOT going to trade Tatis ... probably not for Snydergaard even up).

Net good for SD but some risk in CF if they go with Jankowski / Cordero ... the Reed/Oliveras options is at least 2 years out (if ever). Maybe not the favorite to get Syndergaard but very likely a finalist.

If you included Margot, Hedges, Yates, Nix, and Erlin in order to get Syndergaard, then you could look to add someone to platoon with Jank in CF. Maybe Denard Span, Austin Jackson, or some RH hitting CFer that would allow Jank to sit against LHSP and then be a late inning pinch runner/defensive replacement. Then you could still platoon Reyes/Cordero and let Renfroe man LF. Then we would have a starting rotation of Syndergaard, Luchessi, Leake, Laur, and Mitchell. That should do us well. Maybe Tatis is doing well enough in Winter Ball that SD is willing to start the season with him in SD. Your INF would be Tatis @ 3B, Segura @ SS, Urias @ 2B, and Hosmer @ 1B. Mejia catches and then resign AJ Ellis as the back up.

If I were a Mets fan I'd be PISSED if Margot/Hedges/Yates/Nix/Erlin was what I got for Syndergaard. Zero chance we wouldn't have to include a premium player or combo like Gore or Urias/Allen or Mejia/Morejon.

Mets are looking for RH Power ..t..their lineup is too left handed ..BP C and CF.... They want MLB ready or MLB players as they are in WIN NOW mode.... Other 5 clubs mentiined can't just give up 2-3 BP arms a RHP hitter..a C etc..and not be greatly affected in their pursuit for the post season in 2019... Pads can do both address the now and throw in a blue chip prospect without hurting their path and in fact improving it.... With that in mind this is what I would do...

Step 1)  Leake + Segura for Myers (sinve AJP is also asking for $$ on the deal doubt we add anything..

Trade 2)  Segura + Mejia + Stanmen+ Yates + Lucchesi + Margot + Gore to the Mets for Noah

Trade 3 (Sea/Mets) Ruiz + Myers to Mets for Comforto or Nimmo

We end up with Noah and Leake

FA signing Adam Jones (San Diego boy)....Cf can be Jones/Jank/Franchy..still have Reyes and Renfroe.. Jones won't cost much..

FA signing Galvis SS

Trade (supposedly in place to be complimeted when sides say so) 3B Franco (for whatever theyve discussed..i imagine like Nix or so)

FA signing (JPN) Kilkuchi

After moves

1. Urias 2B

2. Hosmer 1B

3. Reyes RF

4. Renfroe LF

5. Jones/Jank/Franchy-se CF

6.Franco 3B

7. Hedges C

8. Galvis SS (until Tatis jr is ready)

SP

1. Noah RHP

2. Kilkuchi LHP

3. Leake RHP

4. Lauer LHP

5..Many an arm here and BP game an option until its sorted out..

BP

Castillo/Maton/Strahm can all battle for CL

Berlin/Richard /Wicke etc..all in the mix for remaining spots

Could also add a BP arm or 2 from the DFA world (success here with Hand and Yates most recently)..a..and/or sign a FA or 2 that falls to us at the right price...

Does this not sound reasonable to all concerned and Mets address the NOW with Ruiz(elite CL) + Yates + Stanmen+ Lucchesi..Segura Myers and Mejia and the future with Gore

Seattle happy with a younger controllable Lefty OF (Comforto or Nimmo) vs the future obligations of Myers...

Win Win Win for all ...Mets actually still pretty good SP..balance their heavy lefty lineup..and to from worst BP in baseball in 18..to possibly elite level BP in 19

Holy smokes!

You wanna give up Myers/Segura/Lucchesi/Gore/Mejia/Margot/Yates/Stammen for Thor and Leake?

I don’t know what to say......

Thats “Seven” Major league starters and a top 15 overall prospect for an oft injured frontline starter and an average ‘innings eater”.

What am I missing?

We probably can make the trade without gore and segura.
