Padres vs Dbacks

PreviousPage 5 of 7Next

I'd have hit Mejia 6, Olivares 7, Profar 8, Grisham 9.

We need to put guys in front of Tatis who have a chance to get on, the way he's hitting the ball. Profar sees A LOT of pitches and Grisham seemed comfortable at 9 earlier.

This is the a Rookie of the Year Wil Myers

Beginning to look as though signing a 30 year old Bumgarner to a 5 year / $80MM deal was suboptimal for the D-Backs. He had been showing signs in SF that he was on the backside of his career.

I knew it......you knew it....apparently the D Backs didn’t.

Good for the Padres.

DAMNIT!!!! I thought today was the day!

So did I ... Lamet was dominant.

Lamet out ... Patino in.

With the lead no need to over tax Lamet and getting Patino in a non pressure situation is a good evaluation appearance.

Guess this ends the speculation that Patino gets the start next Tuesday. Probably a "bullpen" day with Quantrill getting the start.

If Patino closes this game out ... Padres have a rested pen for the series with the LAD and if Richards goes deep into the game tomorrow ... the Tuesday bullpen day is well set-up.

A nice win, but not without its warts.  Bases loaded in the 7th with <2 outs and couldn't score any runners.  Lead-off double in the 8th against a CATCHER on the mound and couldn't score.  We've got to get better in those situation even if we have a big lead.  On the hill, Lamet was great, but Patino showed why he's not ready yet - all over the place with 4 walks and a home run allowed.  It was a good idea and if he had succeeded you could see him being stretched out for a start, but as of now just potential not production.  I would have brought Hill in earlier against Calhoun but he showed his good and bad side.  With him, it seems you have to use him more often to keep him sharp - rubber arm, so got to get him in those situations where you have LH Hitter that will stay in to bat and just for that out, if possible.

Lamet was exciting and Mejia called a good game - even got a home run.  Happy for Profar also getting a couple of hits.

Ptiños’ stuff looked good I think he just needs to relax and trust his stuff and throw strikes.

He looked like he was trying to be too perfect.....he also got a queened on a few pitches.

Can’t pitch from behind constantly no matter who you are.

Paddack needs to teach him to get strike one.
