Padres vs Dbacks ... the Opening Series

It is never easy to sit two starters but the Padres do need to play the long game ... LHP on a poor AZ team may be the best chance to get Kim and Mateo into a game to keep them sharp (and feeling they are really part of the team). With Grisham coming off the IL likely on the 8th ... might need to see both (and then Marcano) to make the call on who gets optioned?
I would not be surprised to see Weathers and Crismatt in relief tonight for the same reason ... Johnson, Adams returning soon (maybe the 8th).

Musgrove is looking good ... Kim gets two hits so far ... Mateo makes a fine catch deep in LF ... Machado heats up .... Caratini looks good behind the plate ... so far all is good.

Not sure about Torrey Luvollo’s thinking about keeping his starter in the game so long and after a huge number of pitches in both the 1st and 2nd. That cannot be good for the kid and in turn not good for the team if they are planning on him going forward.
3rd game of the season ... bad team ... might want to consider the health of the player.

Musgrove gave us just what we needed, 6 no drama innings and Weathers pitched like a veteran. Nice to see Kim get a couple of nice hard hits. Good move by Tingler to give him a start against a softer tosser. Love the way Mateo looks in LF, 2 nice catches and another hit. Now if Paddock comes through tomorrow.......

1st inning Paddock all fastballs and change ups. Hard to be successful without a curve now and then. Laying off the change low in the zone. He needs to bring it up a bit and throw some fastballs low. Right now it's fastballs are up changes dip below the zone. Needs to make adjustments now

He's a head case. I don't trust him. My guess the lion on his forearm isn't helping him get anyone out. I'd rather bump Morejon to the fourth spot and let Weathers pitch in the fifth spot.

Paddack must have an EXTREMELY short leash this year.
The Duds are 6 or 7 strong through their starting rotation. Our margin for error is small.
