Padres at Rockies

Eickhoff selected.   Look for him to absorb innings if neccy.

What frustrates me with Lucchesi is his inconsistency and lack of command.

(probably not RP material with his command, balls in dirt)

Looking at his career so far:

Home (33 starts) 3.26 ERA ... very good

Away (25 starts) 5.54 ERA ... very bad

=====

1st half 3.69 ERA ... very good

2nd half 4.70  ERA ... bad (July/Sept worst ... heat / tired?

=====

Innings 1-3 3.78 ERA ... very good

Innings 4-6 4.77 ERA ... bad (almost never got to 7+ innings)

=====

Think Tingler has some strategy to start Lucchesi for 1-2 times through the order then go long with Quantrill. Maybe he should do that at PETCO only and start Quantrill on the road?

Frustrating inconsistency .... “only 27” but in his 3rd season as a ML starter. On a contending team ... do the Padres have enough other effective options to work around Lucchesi’s weaknesses? Or are they better off with someone who can give them 5-6 good innings every time out ... and is that Quantrill?

NOt trying to make an excuse, but Does anyone agrees that they look a little tired right now? Have not had a day off since the begining of the season.

Pop ups....dribblers.....strike outs.....this is Coors field and Antonio Senzetella.

Last night was Kyle Freeland.

Not a good sign for when we face good pitching and bad hitting Parks.

I am wishing this game is over, so they get as early as possible to SD and get some nice rest, the LA series is the one I am waiting for.

Well this went from exciting to be the leagues first 6 game winner to down right embarrassing.

Last night Chris Owings had as many hits as the entire Padre lineup.

Tonight Daniel Murphy has.

Im worried we’re about to face good pitching.

First few innings looked like the offense was thinking about the plane ride home.  Don't think Davies pitched that poorly, it was just that the Rockies took every advantage of every bad pitch and put on a clinic on how to hit throughout the game.  Hill would have gotten out of his inning had Tatis not dropped the ball on the double play and it showed throughout the game that Tatis was tired and not his normal self.  Profar was obviously pressing and neither Garcia or Mejia contributed much.

Fortunately, Machado, Pham and Myers looked good and we should expect normal efforts from Tatis and Grisham in San Diego.  Cronenworth needs to stay in the line-up against LHPs and Naylor had a very good swing on that triple and has been showing much more life lately.   That leaves the perpetual holes at C and 2b.  Maybe it's time to bring up Mateo after all as well as Torrens - he couldn't be worse than we've seen so far, can he?

Anyway, we need our pitching at the top of its game to compete with LA this week.  Hopefully, they will bounce back from so-so showings on the road.

Beat LA!

I’d like to see Cronenworth at 2b.

In fact he could basically move around the infield giving guys days off defensively.

I’ve been a fan since Spring Training which seems like 10 years ago and would like to see him playing more regularly.

With Hosmer out and Profar struggling it seems a good time.

Good to see the late signs of life.  Agree Tatis probably needs a day @ DH to get off his feet, but hard to see it happening in LAD series.  Agree more Cronenworth & Naylor vs RHP.  Profar needs to cede playing time vs RHP to JC or Garcia.
